so what you guys thought of the scores? 120-108 120-108 120-107? donaire didn't even get 1 round? haven't seen the fight though.

It wasnt a shutout by any means, those scores were on par with the Chavez Jr fight that followed.

My initial thread is in defense of statements i have been hearing such as

"Guzman ran from soto, he doesnt deserve a fight with pacman, hed just run to a desicion"

"Whitaker ran from chavez, thats why he didint win"

im tired of pure boxers getting a bad rep on here in favor of one style.

Guzman did literally run from soto. And i mean he literally RAN from 1 end of the ring to another. But i dont see how that would equate to him being able to do the same against Paq. He's quick enough to catch him mid stride

i absolutely agree with BLACK JESUS! what's all the controversy about? solis gave the outgunned donaire a nice little boxing lesson. it's not called running, it's called boxing. you know, hitting your opponent without getting hit yourself!!! donaire put up a good scrap but he was no match for solis' style and got whupped in the process. solis is a boxer/puncher with power while donaire is a slugger with NO power.

i wish these little donaire fans would quit whining and crying! i can see if it was close but solis won by a landslide. and forget the scores! would donaire fans feel better if the judges changed their scorecards and gave him one or two more rounds? the fact is this, HE LOST! and by alot!

i admire fighters like mayweather jr., the late salvador sanchez, ivan calderon because they bring the sport of boxing to a whole new level. donaire fans, boxing is called a "science" for a reason. anybody can go out slugging with anybody but not everybody can box like stylistic boxers.

Solis is one ugly neanderthal geico-commercial lookin hombre, but before this last performance, I admired his fighting style... The thing is, Solis ordinarily likes to trade, BUT, the fact is, he got hit with some nice shots early in the fight and he clearly went on DEFENSE mode for the rest of the night.... Simply put, he ran and was content and anticipated a decision... Yeah, sure, he could have attempted to go for the knockout in the later rounds but he DIDNT.... WHY?... Because, Solis didnt want to risk getting tagged himself... Thats not a warrior... Thats a calculated risk assessor...

Then isn't it bad for Pacquiao to beat Soto next? I mean if Soto is so bad (Lol he's actually really good) that Guzman is allowed to run from him literally, then why is Pacquiao fighting him?

I think Soto is a better choice then Valero personally, but when Guzman already beat him, it doesn't mean much.
