De La Hoya hits at least as hard as Cotto.
And don't start playing revisionist history on the De La Hoya fight, because that version of Oscar beats Cotto @ light-middle.
De La Hoya ain't a body-punch artist.
But here's the thing. Mayweather would make Cotto's bodywork look as ineffectual as he made Oscar's attempted bodywork.
That's how much Floyd Jr. would have your boy's number.
Floyd has faced fighters with better and quicker footwork already.
Cotto hasn't faced near the amount of variety Floyd has.
He doesn't have near as much of the kind of experiences that translate to ring intelligence.
That's what they all say.
Besides, the longer he sharpening his punches on Cotto's face, the easier it get.
You give your boy way too much credit.
He hasn't even faced that great a variety of styles to say that he could make adjustments against a fighter who is far more intuitive and has shown far more adaptability in the ring than Cotto will ever be or ever show.
Cotto would be made to look plain by Floyd.
Suck it up, baby-*****.Comment

1. That's always my point as far as Cottos power. Not one punch KO. But accumulated damage. Accumulated damage is much worse than getting buzzed off one punch. Getting stunned you can recover from in due time. But getting pounded and having the **** beat out of your ribs/shoulder/elbows round after round - it takes your body out of the game. You sort of need that to continue.
2. Cotto isn't Hatton. He wouldn't come flying in hands down. So Cotto can chase. He'd have to. Floyd will NOT stand and trade with Miguel. Common sense man.
3. I meant life time - not who he fought. Just how much time he's invested in the sport.
2) Of course he won't stand and trade. Floyd's game at 147 is based off defense first. And with Cotto being as aggressive as he is with as poor of defense as he has he is perfect for Mayweather's counter punching style.
3) JCC Jr has about the same amount of ring time as Mayweather. Does that mean anything?Comment

De La Hoya has a great left hook, but as far as power goes that's about it. Cotto has a greater variety of power punches and is a much better body puncher.Comment

1. I'm glad you think Floyd is Flash Gordon. Everyone who picks Floyd to win over Cotto seems to think that Floyd will be wearing his invisible cape that night.
2. Cotto is smart. He wouldn't be as aggresive knowing how Floyd fights. He would force Floyd to fight his fight. Cotto would go stand in the opposite corner if he felt like it. He's not going to let Floyd fight his normal run and gun fight.
3. No.Comment

I don't believe Cotto is a more intuitive fighter than De La Hoya or possesses better timing.
Mayweather's elbows would always be where they need to be at the right time, tucked in and making that bodywork look futile.
You're underestimating Oscar's power and overestimating Cotto's power and how many weapons he has upstairs --- there isn't any massive gulf there.
Cotto would run out of ideas real quick against Floyd.Comment
