Duran is a pretty great fighter top 15 for sure and should be in the top 10. He is arguably the top 135 pounder of all time, lightweight has a long and storied history so just off of that he should be very high and when you throw in the rest of his career above 135 just makes it that much better.
147 and above except for the first Leonard fight he lost against the best guys he fought but he lost against bigger guys who were Hall of Fame class(pre 1990 except for a couple guys) ,so how much does that really count against him.Comment

Theres no doubt that he was great and thats why I put him in 8-12 of all time. Although I think Leonard was a better fighter than Duran, Duran to me is the greatest lightweight of all time. I know he took on all comers from all divisions but as a lightweight in that era the comp wasn't that great to make me feel that he was a top 5 of all time. Sometimes it works out like that, look at Wlad we will never know how good he is(or bad) because the division doesnt have the amazing names. Duran may of been the greatest fighter ever but going off his body of work I have to say he is not better than the guys listed. He lost to Leonard twice and the one time he beat him ended up being a very very close UD(Leonard lost by 1 on every card cept the third card lost by 2 with 19 rounds going as a draw).Duran reign was special at lightweight but had didnt have anyone really good till he was forced to step up in weight. He also got away with a lot of stuff that would be preceived as illegal now. Great champion but Leonard was greater. But the thing is can you name a lightweight that he should've fought? He fought them all from LW to middleweight. He fought all the greats between those classes. Name me another fighter that won his first belt at LW that could've even finished the fight against Hagler (possibly the greatest MW ever) and a LW stood there didn't run and ****** it out with him.Comment

Thats the thing, there wasn't all that much at LW other than Buchanan and DeJesus. But were splitting hairs here, we both agree on his greatness.Comment
