Rather than criticise Wlad, what about Tony 'Tiger' Thompson?

I thought it was a very poor performance. I didn't give him a single round. I know some folks gave him R1 but I think that's just being charitable.

Thompson walked forward with his guard up around his head for 95% of the time, he was just begging to be body punched. The Tiger hardly threw any punches from R2 onwards and appeared to quit in R9? I thought he was supposed to be broke, hungry, etc? A very disappointing performance.

    Was he overawed, over-matched, outclassed?

So my esteemed colleagues. What did you make of Tiger Thompson?

    Thompson is crap.
But we don't need to talk about a tomato can contender, we want to talk about the "heavyweight champion" of the world because there are a lot of expectations that come with that title, and after performances like that it adds to the long list of nay-sayers.

Vitali would have ko'd Thompson in the first round, I hope he comes back like he is suppose to and kicks the ever living **** out of that slow fighter Samuel Peter

He actually fought better than I expected in the first 4 or 5 rounds but he seemed to have his will beat out of him by Wlad.

His style will make things difficult for pretty much everyone in the division I think.

I was very upset by the way Tony fought. As soon as he lost I yelled thank god you ****ing bum go back to espn. I usually don't do this and respect all fighters but the way he fought was pathetic and he let down America while doing it. You have one ****ing chance in your whole life to reach your dream and YOU DO THAT. Im sorry but its in bad taste.

...I thought he did a great job of making Wlad uncomfortable. The scorecard may not have shown it but he made Wlady work for it. I actually like Thompson more after this fight and I rate his chances high against most heavies.

Yes I had it that way too, with one round even. What was Thompson's gameplan, he was never going to win on points throwing so little. Was he hoping for Wlad to make a mistake so that he could get through with a lucky punch?
