No, I don't agree that Cal owes Pavlik anything. Calzaghe has earned the right to fight who he chooses. Pavlik can only hope that he earns Calzaghe's position one day. When Pavlik cleans his own division and unifies the title in the way Calzaghe did, makes 20 defenses, goes 45-0, then he can talk.
