I'm surprised you'd say that Reed. Before the Lacy fight, how many fights of Joe had you seen?

It's easy to say the Lacy win was one of his best, it probably was one of mostly due to him holding the IBF, well regarded and expected to beat Joe, and Calzaghe had an immensely good performance. But it's being overly simplistic to the bigger picture to just list those.

I'm not saying he has a great resume faced absolute top opposition every time. Many weren't all massive names, but were decent top ten contenders often.

Eubank may have been past prime but was still lethal and decent, for a young in experienced Joe to knock him down in the first round when prime Nigel Been couldn't, and take a large decision in his first 12 round fight, is one of his best wins.

Robin Reid, Richie Woodhall, Omar Sheika, and Mario Veit are decent wins, especially considering the fashion they were beaten.

Some of the best America sent over whom were top ten, such as Brewer and Mitchell were also great wins, again considering the fashion they were out classed and beaten. Perhaps most don't come quite close enough to a minuscule top 3 best wins list for some, but they're all a lot closer than is often made out.

But really, We should be talking about Jones because Joe has to get passed him first... then I think he will face PAV. I bet PAV will win his next 2 PW AA and then he will face JC.... with both of them getting a BIG pay day

Ca is retiring win or lose after the Jones fight. He has nothing to prove. He might think about the Pav fight, but it depends on how he looks in the Jones fight.

Good post, and he stayed in 1 division. People say this about a lot of fighters who stayed at 1 division pretty much their whole careers. They did this to hop too.

I'm a Floyd fan and AA fan. I'm a Cal fan who does not care who he fights in the twilight of his career. Guys saying he is scared of Pav is comical to me though. My point is if you call a guy out, go fight him at his weight, don't ask for stipulations. Those days of Leonard-Hagler type stipulations are over.

true, but man I dont think Cal has seen the REAL money just yet... I think he will get some REALLY big offers, IMO.... I think he will stick around and yes a lot might have to do with how he looks in there with Jones. But I think if he wins and gets offered big money he will take it and of course if he lost, you know he will want to fight again.... or at least i would think he would...

That's what Oscar Delahoya did when he fought Hopkins. B-Hop had to sign a contract to not weigh more than 157 for the fight. Delahoya gets no props from me for taking that fight. As for Pavlik, he he has a lot of nerve. He makes one defense against a weak opponent but thinks Calzaghe ows him a fight. Please.

true, but Joe wants to make money and PAV would bring that to him... What does it matter especially when you face Peter Manfredo, a nobody.... I think if he "GAVE" Manfrdo a chance than he OWES PAVLIK MORE of a chance... wouldnt you agree????? But again, Im looking forward to the Jones fight.. I dont see the Pav fight happening until mid next year...

Point being, with Lacy, Hopkins and Kessler loads of people said they would beat Joe. When they didn't suddenly they became 'hyped', 'old', 'unproven'. Exactly the same thing would happen with Pavlik.

Loads of people said the same thing about Miranda and Taylor KO'ing and outboxing Pavlik. Now, in your own words you called Taylor overrated. What is your excuse for Miranda losing? Calzaghe is def looking for the money and I can't totally blame him for it. It's his fans and this phantom legacy they think he has that is so irritating. JC has fought for nearly, what, 15 years? How many title defenses? Unbeaten for all those years in 45 fights and with that being said - Kessler and BHop were his best wins? THAT is why JC gets no credit. He never stepped on the gas and went head hunting. Pavlik shows the youth and hunger and would CLEARLY be the biggest test of JC's career. I guess I would avoid it too if I were him and go after the money. Also, this LHW bull**** and JC being the king of that division needs to stop. JC is a natural SMW and only has the LHW titles because he edged out a SD with Hop. Pavlik will murder JC - the fans know it and more importantly - Joe knows it. The ones who say different are the phantom legacy promoters.
