Dawson won a unanimous decision. No one has re watched the fight and actually told me that they had Johnson winning. The only thing that Johnson noticably did was hurt Dawson in rounds 3 and 10. Other than that, Dawson was putting rounds in the bank simply by throwing more punches and landing more as well. He beat Johnson period. Without any bias, i scored the fight 115-113 in favor of the champion which was Dawson.
Johnson is also not a trail horse. Tell me a low quality fighter that he has lost to after he stepped on the scene with Jones, Tarver, Woods ect. He had a lot of questionable decisions losses throughout his career and is known as a guy that goes to his opponents home town and for fighting the best. He is another guy that Calzaghe was accused of avoiding. Dawson has beaten better and higher quality fighters than both Lacy and kessler has. Unlike them, he is tested against the elites.
Tarver was on the pound for pound list after his two wins over Jones and his win over Johnson, who also beat Jones. He is definitely a pound for pound quality fighter and is also a 4 time light heavyweight champion. You have to give a guy credit by fighting the best out there and not being matched carefully, like a few fighters that we know.
Calzaghe has shown no evidence that he is past his prime. He can fight Pavlik and should meet him at a catch weight if he cannot make the 168 pound limit. If he wants to solidify his legacy, then he will fight dangerous highly ranked guys that posses an actual threat to his unbeaten streak. Pavlik is definitely that type of fighter and if he beat Pavlik, i will guarentee you that he would get more credit for beating Pavlik then he did beat Lacy and Kessler. He would be beating an American on his home turf in front on an American audience. Would be pretty damn impressive if you ask me and i would make Calzaghe a slight favorite in that fight simply becuase the style match up favors him. It would be a great fight either way.
I personally don't remember Taylor/Hopkins being as disputed as Hopkins/Calzaghe. Hopkins dropped Calzaghe and the momentum was in his favor for more than half of the fight and dropped him. Taylor/Hopkins was close even from the begining and Taylor won most of the rounds by out flurrying Hopkins at the end and even out boxing him at times.

Tarver is not P4P Quality. Pavlik is barely. Joe has been adament that hes gonna retire. If he doesnt then Im sure he'll fight Pavlik as thats the next biggest money fight. But at the end of the day, why kill yourself at 37 after 45 fights being a two weight champ just to fight a guy that a lot of people wouldnt even give you much credit for beating.

Hopkins clearly lost to Taylor? Gimmie a break! Like I said, many more proper boxing people had Hopkins over Taylor than Hopkins over Calzaghe. Hopkins dropped Calzaghe but he hurt Taylor. Big difference.
