I Dunno If Im Just Late Or What? But Im Just Hearing About Calzaghe And Jones Jr Having A Fight In September I Believe On Friday Night Fights! Yo.....the Only Question I Have For This Bout Is...why? Calzaghe Doesnt Need To Fight Jones, He Needs Some Real Competition. What Are Your Thoughts On This?

Calzaghe needs to seal his legacy by fighting guys like Pavlik, Dawson, Tarver, Taylor ect. Guys that are actually real threats to his crown. You just can't expect to beat two good but untested young champions that were untested on the elite level and expect to have a sealed legacy. Hopkins was a good win, but was clearly past his true prime. The Jones fight is a good pay day, but will nothing for his legacy and will only draw more critics if this is really his last fight.Comment

Didnt you hear? Pavlik's not concerned with Calzaghe anymore. He's taking on an even bigger challenge..........Paul Williams!Calzaghe needs to seal his legacy by fighting guys like Pavlik, Dawson, Tarver Taylor ect. Dawson has been tested at the elite level?? Wouldnt he fall under the same category as Kessler and Lacy? Personally I believe Glen Johnson beat him in his only fight resembling a test.
Tarver? He's the same age as Jones. The "shot" excuse would be used.
Taylor? Damaged goods really. A win over him at this stage means little. Taylor was already offered $5m to fight Calzaghe turned it down. Taylor is more a fight that Carl Froch needs rather than Calzaghe.
I see what you're saying about Jones. But at the same time, I dont think Calzaghe will ever be held in high esteem by some people. If he were to have another fight, I'd like to see him against Pavlik. But even then, I can see people saying Pavlik was overrated etc etc.
Joe himself seems content with what he's achieved and happy with what hes earned so he isnt gonna kill himself to keep fighting to gain recognition which he'll probably never get unless he builds a time machine and beats Toney, Jones and Hopkins in their so called "primes".Comment

Dawson has been matched fast. He only has 26 fights and is already ranked 3rd at light heavweight and has already beaten elite guys. Yes, Johnson is elite, Adamek was elite and Eric Harding was also elite. He is battle tested and the win over Johnson will only help him. It was the first time that he was pressured and now he should know to react and to box smartly againstt pressure fighters.Didnt you hear? Pavlik's not concerned with Calzaghe anymore. He's taking on an even bigger challenge..........Paul Williams!

I find it laughable that you accuse Pavlik of avoiding Calzaghe, when Calzaghe clearly stated that he wanted no part of him. Some examples should be left alone.
Taylor had beaten Hopkins twice and looked better than Calzaghe doing while do it. He also has other good against Wright, Bunema, ect. Another examle that should be left alone. He lost to Kelly Pavlik and there is no shame in that. Pavlik is a very good fighter, unbeaten knockout artist and middleweight champion. Taylor redemed himself in the rematch and had many people beleving that he won. All of the guys that you just mentioned are more tested than Kessler and Lacy, two guys with no names on their resume's that stand out. They are very good fighters, but again not tested that elite opposition.Comment

He ducked Kelly Pavlik to fight a shot roy jones jr, who Joe Calzaghe even said was shot in his book he had someone else write for him... Have you looked at Calzaghes resume lately? His resume is probably one of the most handpicked resumes of the elite boxers out there. Is he good? No **** Calzaghe is good but his resume doesn't speak much of him.
Wins over:
Hopkins: A terrible ref named Joe Cortez who nutt-hugged on Hopkins the entire fight made this fight a closer fight for Calzaghe then it should have because Hopkins is kind of shot
Kessler: Who the **** did he beat? Mundine? Kessler was also a mandatory if I remember correctly. While Pavlik is not, guess thats why a tough fighter like Pavlik won't get a shot at joe.
Lacy: Won a one sided win because he fought his best against an opponent who wasn't ready for the top dog of the division and hadn't even fought any serious competition either.
Eubank: Won a tough decision over Eubank, a good learning fight for joe which help him improve in years later and actually probably one of those fights he took at a good time in his life.Comment
