Against Hopkins, who easily weighed 190 after rehydrating, he took the best B-Hop could give, and then once again, completely took over the fight in the mid, to late rounds. It was Hopkins who feigned getting donked in the sack (which the replay clearly debunks) to get a rest, because he was simply getting dominated by that point.

Calzaghe proved in both contests that he has heart, stamina, and a champion's will to keep fighting even if falling behind early.

Cal doesn't have the same zip on his punches that he used to, but he's 35+ now. Jones lost his first fight (as the DQ doesn't count) once he reached that age. In fact, he got KO'd hard.

There are threads all over this place with links to quotes and articles about Jones and Hopkins being asked during their MW days (and Jones' SMW days) about fighting Calzaghe. In each instance, they turned it down simply because of Joe's lack of name recognition in the states, and because they wanted more money. Doesn't sound like the heart of a champion to turn down a legitimate champ/contender over money.

"Why make $4 million when I can make $10 million? Even if the average American family could retire with $500K and smart investments, I'm a greedy punk who's afraid to fight the best unless I get way more money than they get."

I love RJJ, and believe he's a top 10 all-time p4p fighter based on his achievements. He's also been far more congenial in his negotiations with JoeCal than was B-Hop. So no disrespect to him, but Calzaghe deserves to be in the same breath. He's legit. Calling his fans babies or whatever doesn't change that. Your opinions matter no more than theirs.
SOOOOOOOO what your actually saying is that by Joe Calzaghe fighting Roy Jones Jr instead of KELLY PAVLIK makes him have a "heart of a champion"... lol way off man.... Joe is in it for the MONEY just as EVERY fighter is..... Joe stated he didn't want to fight jones because of speed and power, Jones stated he didn't want Joe because he was a NOBODY and there was NO MONEY involved....NOW which excuses has the "heart of a champion"????????? Hey I'm glad hes fighting roy jones. Even though he said he wouldn't UP UNTIL Pavlik beat the **** out of that JOKE lockett..

        2. at you telling me to do my homework when Jones fought Toney in 94 and Sosa 2 years later. Funny stuff.

        3. What did Clinton Woods and co do to get a shot at Jones? Im wondering. Use your brain. Calzaghe was a threat to Jones, Jones knew it, he thought better of the risk.

        2.
        1. Where was the offer to fight him in America? Aside from in your head? Thanks. If you persist in BS'ing, I'll pull up Jones' quotes on Calzaghe when he was on top. Keep embarassing yourself.

        2. LOL@ you thinking you owned ANYTHING. Did you see how many fights Jones had at SMW BEFORE fighting Toney? Go own THAT.

        3. Clinton Woods? He was the WBC #1 contender. Why didn't Calzaghe do that?

                1. Joe wasnt in a position to make offers to Jones to fight in America silly. Jones was in the position of power, if he had offered Joe a fight in America, then Joe would've taken it.

                2. I just destroyed you. You told me to "do my homework" when you said Jones had fought Sosa at SMW before Toney. I just slapped you - Calzaghe style!

                3. Do what? Beat a bunch of nobodies and get into a mando position which Jones could then avoid. Jones didnt even want to fight Dariusz M at light heavy, why would he fight Joe?

                    1. "At the time, when I was on top of the world, why would I go to another guy's place?" asked Jones, who won his last fight against Felix Trinidad in January.

"I'm asking for a bad decision if I do that. That would have been ****** on my part. If I'm the best, come and beat me at home. I was willing and ready, but it never happened."
                    SLAP THAT.

                    2. How old are you? You said Jones got an immediate shot at Toney before moving up. You were proven wrong when I pointed out that, save for one defense, Jones had already fought at SMW multiple times. So umm...what were you saying?

                    3. Yeah, I suppose Dariusz told you he would fight in America too? Like Joe did? LMAO.

Woods was a British fighter - worked his way to the mandatory spot and then was willing to come to the US. What did he get? A shot.
