It remains to be seen whether WBO will actually strip JoeC. If the do it appears as if all 4 major belts by 2009 is placed on 4 seperate pairs of shoulders. How the top guys are positioning themselves in this alphabet game is quite interesting.

By 2009 the belts may be placed as follows:
      WBC: Froch
      WBA: Kessler
      IBF: Bute
      WBO: Taylor.

Some fine fighters in this weightclass, but I for one cannot wait for some unification fights!

If this goes as planned, then Froch will become WBC Champ and Taylor the WBO's champ, making a match-up between the two less likely.

The belts arn't important when your fighting to find out who the true champion is not just money. Who in the world of boxing would like to make the most money without being a champion

If Taylor/Lacy fight for the WBO and Froch/Pascal fight for the WBC, it could actually work out better for everyone involved (except for us fans, probably).

But Taylor could avoid facing Froch on his first fight back after two losses, which I'm sure his team was at least a little concerned about given that Froch is an unknown quantity at this point and Taylor needs a confidence boost. Plus he gets his money fight with HBO and they get several marketing angles to choose from (olympic rivals, bounce-back fight, etc) AND the belt that he would have been missing out on by not fighting Froch for the WBC.

And for Froch, fighting Pascal would allow him to step up in competition from the Reids and Ryabackies of the world without going straight into the ring with a former world champion in Taylor. And it would net him a belt as well.

If everything works as planned, Taylor and Froch can meet up in 2009, as well as Bute and Kessler, or any combination between the four. If they actually make the fights, that is, instead of making one fight after another with mandatory bums.

hahaha, you got it dude. i dont want to be labeled a "hater" but im sick of seeing his slow, over-muscled (and its horrible to be that jacked for boxing btw) inactive, lazy ass on the undercards, or god-forbid as the main event on ANY of the boxing shows that I watch regularly from HBO and Showtime events to ESPN2. I really like his pre-Calzaghe fights, KOs and highlights, but he is a shot fighter now. I don't know if its his mental state or what, but frankly, I don't care really, its over!

if this is for the WBO belt I will call it bull****. there should be a tournament if anything Taylor hasn't done ANYTHING in 168 and lost his last two fights so why give him an opportunity for a belt when he is undeserving of such.

Recently the WBC called for a bout between Taylor and Carl Froch for their vacant title, but that fight depends on whether or not Lacy is able to get by his July 23 tuneup with Epifanio Mendoza. If Lacy wins without and suffers no injury, he will likely face Taylor on November 23, a date reserved by HBO. If that happens, Froch would have to face Jean Pascal with the WBC title at stake. A purse bid for Taylor-Froch has been set for July 25 by the WBC, two days after the Lacy-Mendoza fight. [details]
This fight all depends on what Jeff Lacy we will see that night. If it is the Jeff Lacy that fought Scott Pemberton or Syd Vanderpool, I believe it might be a tough fight for Jermaine. If Jeff Lacy comes the way he has in his past few fights, he will lose to Jermain Taylor by decision.
