According to promoter Lou DiBella, there is a chance that Jermain Taylor will face former Olympic teammater Jeff Lacy in the fall with the vacant WBO super middleweight title at stake. Recently the WBC called for a bout between Taylor and Carl Froch for their vacant title, but that fight depends on whether or not Lacy is able to get by his July 23 tuneup with Epifanio Mendoza. If Lacy wins without and suffers no injury, he will likely face Taylor in November. If that happens, Froch would have to face Jean Pascal with the WBC title at stake. A purse bid for Taylor-Froch has been set for July 25 by the WBC, two days after the Lacy-Mendoza fight. [details]

Even though Taylor is on the way down he WILL be too much for Lacey who has absolutely nothing to offer since Joe beat the hell out of him!!!
Id rather see Taylor against Froch myself.Comment

i think froch would be a much tougher opponent but if the proposed Lacy bout is for a vacant belt (wbo) - jermain could always fight froch immediately after. it would be good for jermain to build his confidence before taking on the undefeated bull froch. Plus I'd like to see Lacy out of the picture, and off of my tv set for good, so lets get this **** over with quick!
in the meantime Bute (once he presumably beats the gutsy, tough, but limited Andrade) should fight Kessler in a tournie to see who meets the winner of Froch and Jermain for all the marbles in the division.
Then whoever comes out victorious can be fed to Kelly Pavlik after he cleans out the middleweight division!!!Comment

Taylor needs someone like Lacy to get his confidence back after two straight losses.
Lacy is well-known but is someone Taylor can dispose of handily.
After Lacy, Taylor should go after Froch and unify the division, a fight that in my eyes could go either way.Comment
