If you're paying the talent only about 200K combined then it doesn't take that many buys to show a profit. but when you guarantee the fighters millions of dollars then there is a lot of pressure to get buys. That's why the main eventers almost always have a percentage over a certain number of buys as motivation to promote the show.
It's also important to do a lot with little for the under cards, hence the convenience of lighter weight fights.
most ppl don't know about valero. pacquiao should fight campbell or something and have valero in an undercard to showcase him if they are so concerned about 'hits' and attendance. I personally don't care cuz I want to see this fight as I know it will be exciting even though I know pacpuiao will destroy valero.
Calzaghe-Hopking draw over 14K ppl in live-audience with tickets starting @250 bucks. So Calzaghe must be a very huge draw in the US, because Hopkins-Wright didn't sell 7K tickets (excluding the free-tickets) with prices starting @50 $.
Is Calzaghe the biggest draw in boxing next to Hatton?
calzaghe vs. hopkins didnt even pass 10k in attendace
