Bwahaha Yeah, you can't beat the "word on the street". I predicted 180-200K, so if they really did 250K, that's not too bad considering Diaz brought almost nothing to the table.

Calzaghe-Hopkins was on regular HBO, not PPV.

It depends on the expectations from past appearances and the budget put into the promotion.

If you're paying the talent only about 200K combined then it doesn't take that many buys to show a profit. but when you guarantee the fighters millions of dollars then there is a lot of pressure to get buys. That's why the main eventers almost always have a percentage over a certain number of buys as motivation to promote the show.
