Calzaghe is probably the best LHW in the world right now, so the prospect of Jones beating him is remote to say the least.

For Jones to win two things would need to happen.

    1) Calzaghe gets old - without doubt Calzaghe was not at his best against Hopkins, so it maybe that he himself is about to fall off dramatically.

    2) Jones improves his workrate - Roy can't do anything about his relative lack of mobility so he has to improve areas he can. His fans say that Jones low workrate in recent fights was down to gunshyness, not stamina issues, Roy needs to show that this is true. He can't beat Calzaghe with a low workrate or rely on single right hand counters, as Hopkins proved.

If both these occur then Jones may have a chance, but no way does todays Roy beat todays Calzaghe in anything but the most exceptional of circumstances.
no its because... hes coming off a 3 fight losing streak... the next thing to do ISNT to have another big fight with the big boys...

the next thing to do is have tune up fights and get your ass back together...

Those 3 losses came against those very same LHW elites I was talking about. Jones lost badly to all three. Ergo, he cannot compete. Also, have you not seen him in his more recent fights? he has looked awful to me, not good.

first of all i think calz looked poor against hopkins because hopkins is a spolier anyone will tell you it doesn't matter what age you are if you're against a spolier he will make the fight awkward and you wil only win by a small margin but 9/10 the agressor and more positive fighter will win. i have to admit though iv seen calz against spoliers (bika) before and he didn't look as bad as he did against hopkins.

next doess RJJ have a good chance against calz? yes he does!!!! in fact i would go as far as to say tis is one of the hardest fights that calz could have picked (along with maybe tarver. dawson then pavlik).

alot of people are slating calz for avoiding pavlik but i honestly believe that pavlik doesn't being anything to the table that calz has not seen before. i dont think kelly has a chance against joe, joe would follow the same blueprint as he did for kessler and win comfortably. yes you could argue that pavlik is higher up the p4p4 ranking but styles make fights and pavliks style is tailor mae for joe.

anyways back to RJJ - i watched the fight against trindad and alot of the speed, power, and skills were still there not quite what they where but RJJ is still alot better in the speed, power etc department than calz. RJJ is stylistically speaking the worst possbile opponent for calz, plus i remember hearing RJJ talking about unifying the lhew scene once more - a defeat of calz would cmeent his status as a twice linear champ of the LHW and would set up bigger fights for him in the future.

calz is famed for being able to adpat and improvise, make astute changes halfway through the fight and come through - id like to see what calz will do against a quicker opponent which is something that he has never faced before. i see calz winning by a SD.

Bejesus! I'm not biased against Roy! I like him and think he was a monster in his prime. I am a Calzaghe fan though, but be real, what do you feel needs to be taken with a grain of salt? My opinion that Calzaghe will win? What are you trying to say, that Roy is favourite?

Come on, look at whats in front of you. On the one hand, Joe Calzaghe, coming off some of his best wins, undefeated and a current champ at two weights. On the other, RJJ horrible losses in his last three elite fights, looked average and old against mediocre opposition since. What about this picture is hard to understand?

I am convinced that Roy Jones Jr holds all of America in some sort of hypnotic thrall causing you all to deny the evidence of your very eyes!!!
