No offence to Roy or his fans.
Take a look at the last 3 years of each guys careers.
Joe just had his best wins against young lions and a wiley old Hopkins who himself fought decentet young class opposition.
And beat Roys conquerer in Tarver.

      What has Roy done?
Fought 2 nobodies and a tired inactive Tito who was up for the payday.
      And was best at 147.

I can't see how Roy wins unless he takes Ripped Fuel.

Yeah, you're right. Just an easy big payday for Calzaghe. How can his fans live with it? I don't know...I mean, you wouldn't pay to watch this, would you?

But what have you seen from Roy that makes you believe he has what it takes at this stage in his career?

Did you see any magic in his last 3?

"Will it be more of a case of Joe Calzaghe simply NEVER being as good as his record?"

Definitely. If Joe can't beat this version of Jones, he never was all that. This is a risky fight for Joe, IMO.

I know Calzaghe's greatness and how he stands as a fighter. He's beatable(I had Hopkins beating him) but also elite. I don't overrate him or underrate him so I wouldn't look down on him as a fighter if he lost to Roy Jones JR. He has already proven himself.

That pretty much sums up the reason why I am against Calzaghe fighting Jones rather than taking on a fighter like a Pavlik, who he said he wanted to fight - right up until Pavlik was going to grant his wish.

Then "Mighty Joe" says Jones is a tougher fight, and Pavlik hasn't earned a fight with him yet. Like boxing fans don't know he has made a career of defending his titles against MUCH less accomplished fighters than Pavlik...

Interesting but I think it has more to do with the money. Clearly he's gonna make more in a fight with Jones. I think Joe knows he's lost a step or two and wants to get out with as much money as he can.

Also Jones is still widely regarded by many to be some sort of Demigod. So he beats him and he's the greatest fighter of ****.. i dunno.. whatever.. Yea I don't get it either, but there it is.
