If Roy Jones Jr. Actually WINS....

If Roy Jones Jr. actually wins this fight with Calzaghe, in your opinion, how will it be viewed ?

Will it be more of a case of Roy Jones Jr. simply being THAT good even at this point?

    -OR -

Will it be more of a case of Joe Calzaghe simply NEVER being as good as his record?

    What do you think?

For me it will be more Jones being better than I expected him to be at this point of his career than Calzaghe being overrated.

you got to remember roys only losses came after he moved back down
from heavyweight. look what happened to chris byrd. roy is the best
p4p fighter not mayweather. mayweather is the opposite of roy jones
he doesn't take any chances. roy seeks out challenges. they are the
      total opposite.

Agreed. Calzaghe is a great fighter. Although he does get a ton of **** from everyone, he is very good. If Jones can win, and I believe he can, then it will be as much Jones winning and not Calzaghe losing.

If anything I think Jones has held up his natural gifts more than Calzaghe has. Jones still has the speed, power and combination's. Calzaghe has lost quite a lot of speed, most of his power and his combination's are not as sharp as they were even a few years ago.

Right or wrong, Joe Calzaghe's career will go down the drain from a fan's perspective if he loses to RJJ.

My view would be that Calz was is and never will be as good as Roy at any point in time.

That's not to say that Calz is overrated so to speak it's more about Roy's slide thus making him underrated IN SOME WAYS for the last few years.

Jones definitely has a chance in the fight.

Jones was a phenomenal athlete in his prime and had great natural gifts so even if he has lost some of it, he still has more speed and athleticism than most of the other boxers around.

Calzaghe did seem to get tired a bit easier in the Hopkins fight but that could be because of Hopkins holding and mauling him whenever they got close, he looked much smaller in the upper body than Hopkins. I think he's still very fast though and has pretty good power when he decides to sit down and commit to a shot, something he's worried to do because of his hands. I agree about his combinations though, he's sloppier now when he throws more than 3 punches at a time.

More of a case of Jones being that good. This is because Calzaghe has been on top for years, he's not some untested fluke. Of course it would hurt Joe's rep, but nearly as much as it will enhance Roy's.

A combination of the two, I think.
