We are talking pound for pound. Hopkins never fought consistantly at super middleweight so we can not judge by that. Also, i would favor Tarver over Kessler convincingly. Kessler is untested at the elite level and hasn't beaten anyone that stands out. He is a very good fighter with very good skills, but he is very overestimated on this forum. Tarver has beaten far better fighters than Kessler has and is more accomplished. Hes just the better fighter overall.

Hes not a first ballet, but he will definitely be in there for his longevity and the amount of times he won the title. He also has wins over many top 10 fighters and Evander Holyfield. Hopkins took bigger risks and fought the better pound for pound quality opponents, Calzaghe beat the better fighters that were his size. I think thats pretty fair.
