he has ears though. and he heard the 10 second warning.

      Taylor lost.

      Game over, insert another quarter.
no disrespect. but by the time steele would of let action ebgin again. bell would have sounded.

My point is this, should the fight have been stopped sooner? He was ruined, never really the same. Taylor wasn't nearly as upset as he should have been, he didn't have any negative emotions regarding the decision at that moment, look at him. Dude the 10 second warning isn't something he is listening for when Taylor was being beaten badly and is on his last leg. Again Steele is not the time keeper, he is a ref, and for all we know it all fades out except the bell when he is working.

It doesnt matter how many seconds were left, he was in really bad shape and was getting severely hurt.... Any good referee would have done the same. And just like Steele said, when stopping a fight, a referee always must take into account the amount of cumulative punishment that the fighter has taken throughout the fight and in this case, he did.

Your suppose to do your job regardless of how much time there is left

Unless the HBO' clock was inaccurate, there was 5 seconds left when Steele called the fight.

No, because the amount of time Steele used up to ask a question and wait for a response would have given even more time for Chavez to inflict damage. So thats possibly at least 8-10 seconds before the bell would have rung.

Exactly, 2 seconds is when the timekeeper realized the fight had been stopped.

respect all of your opinions. But Im just stating mine. I have seen guys in much worse condition. He got up at the count of 5. And to be completely honest, by the time he let action get back on. bell would have already sounded. That stoppage ruined him, the kid was traumatized.
