I must also bring up the fact that Don King and Chavez has a history of fishy judging as well. The questionable decision in the Whitaker fight, the questionable win over Franky Randall, the questionable decison for Steele to stop the Taylor fight ect. King was just a crooked guy and has a history of it.
Although I agree that King is a Douche bag, and Chavez had some questionable decisions, but Taylor couldn't even stand with out the ropes, he couldn't/didn't say he can continue. Gatti is a different fighter then Taylor, Gatti is face first fighter, comparing them is ridiculous. Gatti has always responded, walked forward, etc. Taylor needed the ropes to stand, that is not standing up. By your words my 12 month old god son, could stand, but he couldn't take steps. Hell he can't respond either maybe we should throw him in the ring.

You need to realize how vulnerable Taylor was in order to understand the stoppage, Steele is looking at the safety of a fighter, a fighter that was never the same following that fight. You are look at a win loss situation. You need to take into consideration the long term damage that had happened. Gabriel Ruelas killed a guy, dude died 3 weeks(?) after the fight. Ruelas never fought the same, you could tell he was scared he would do it again. The G-man McCelland is blind, 80% deaf, and suffered severe memory loss.

Steele's job is not to watch the clock, it is to watch the fighter, the fighter was not able to continue, showed no encouragement to fight on(no response), end of contest.

Am from england and have NO biase toward any of the 2 fighters, Am calling it like i see it..That was a ROBBERY, Even if the time left was 1 minute taylor got up and was acting normal like most fighter that has been knocked down would act after getting up.

I cannot imagine if it was the other way round...Would steele have stopped the fight if chavez was in the same situation? NO F**KING WAY.....That was a disgrace to boxing.

It seems to me that The ref was looking for the opportunity to stop the fight and he got one.

I dont know what to tihnk. steele doesnt come across as someone who would do that. I think he made a horrible mistake and he realized it. But had to back it up after he already did it. it was very foolish though.

I genuinely dont think he made a mistake, Chavez was a big name and steele was a don king ref. If Taylor was KD twice already then was walking all over the ring like he was drunk then yeah.

But in the 12th round when you have heard the 10seconds bell..YOU STOP A WORLD CLASS fight like that??? that to me was fishy, If that was chavez the ref would never have stopped that fight.

Thats exactly right. Steele also knew that Taylor was ahead in the fight. I would have perfectly understood if someone told me that the stoppage wasn't quick becuase Steele was normally known for being a good referree, but he has been known for working for Don King in the past and shortly before the fight, they were found speaking privately. King Paid him off and Steele found the perfect opportunity to stop the fight and he did. If Chavez was in that much trouble, like you said it would have took him own cornerman to stop the fight.

It would have looked better for Taylor if he would've let go of the ropes during the count...in any event, he could've kept his distance better knowing he was ahead, with both eyes swollen like that it was only a matter of time before he got hit by something he couldn't see coming. Watch Chavez carefully, he was taking his time in the 12th, didn't rush, and knew how to knock him down.
