Cool. I am a huge fan of many black fighters through the years. Chad dawson is probably my favourite right now, and he is the biggest threat to Calzaghe should they ever fight. See how unlike you I am?

So if you think he's overrated, how do you yourself rate him and why?

he's obviously a good fighter otherwise he wouldnt be in the position he's in but i dont think he's as good as his fans think he is.. cal has decent hand speed, a great work rate, and he can make adjustments.. but i think his defense is kinda sorry and thats why he has such a high work rate so he can compensate for his defensive flaws.. i also dont think he's gone up against great opposition for the most part of his career.. the only decent fighter he fought was a 43 year old hopkins and he had trouble against him.. its not entirely his fault that he fought sorry opposition but i dont think he went out of his way to fight the big names.. Like during the 90's and early 2000's, i would of liked to see him go against jones, hopkins, wright, toney, echols, glen johnson, etc

I think it's about race and nationality, boxing has been revolved around USA for a long time but things are about to change, as soon as they see a foreign white boxer in the TOP 3 P4P rankings, they explode.
I believe that's good for us, it makes guys like Calzaghe and Manny even more special.

I agree that particularly at the moment American boxing is entering a bit of a slump and won't be dominating as much as it has. I've posted before that this seems to make some American fans quite defensive, but thats understandable.

I don't think his fans on here are that bad really. Lucky13 says some extreme things from time to time, but it is funny to see the way he annoys people. In general I'd say Calzaghe's fans are quite realistic. Noone really claims he is GOAT or ATG like you see from Mayweather and Jones fans. If anything I'd say the things that seem to annoy people most about his fans are when they say stuff like he is better than/ would beat Hopkins/ Jones/ Toney, but even if you disagree with this, these aren't exactly RIDICULOUS statements to make, since Calzaghe is actually a very good boxer, probably better than the fighters each of those guys has lost to.

Yes of course you don't. Like when Lucky13 said that Hatton lost to Floyd cause Floyd is African and can take the desert heat better than Hatton can who is white.

Biggest hand picked resume in boxing ever, more then rocky marciano. Joes been spoon fed bums after bums. I actually like him as a fighter, but his hand picked resume fight hopkins now and now fighter jones jr is complete utter disgrace to the sport of boxing when that same dip**** was calling out pavlik like crazy then all of a sudden stopped when his daddy told him since his fighter lockett got killed in the ring that he feared the same would happen to his over protected son Joe Calzaghe

You really think Calzaghe is boring? This is something a lot of Americans say, along with disliking his style, but I must admit I do find it very hard to understand. Against Lacy and Kessler he looked fantastic and boxed with both skill and agression, anything but boring IMO. The Hopkins fight was a bit dull, but that was hardly surprising.

If you don't mind me asking, what is it that makes you say he is boring?
