he had a lot of solid wins. name a superfight aaron pryor had aside from arguello? if the pryor-arguello fights never happened wouldn't he still be a great fighter?

he dominated his era. that is enough to be great for me. not all time great but still a great fighter.

how many times have good fighters lost to shot fighters? more than a few times. name a champion that doesn't have some old guys on their resume to make their name?
um well, you kind of forgot about Cervantes.

I thought Tsyzu hit his prime after the Phillips fight. kind of woke him up and made him start boxing instead of going for the kill. he still was really bad against pressure fighters. which is the reason I think JCC would have had his way with him, actually. Tsyzu would have given boxer-type fighters a ton of trouble.

come on rod.. i have no doubt you're aware of the circumstances surrounding the loss to cool vince...

at the end of the day hatton is a bad match up for tszyu.. the swarming pressure style negates alot of his timing and accuracy.. in his prime though.. i like to think that tszyu would have had the smarts to tinker with his game plan.. show the boxing skills alot of people dont think he had.. and forge out an ugly but unanimous decision.

taking nothing away from ricky though who beat him on the night.

Prime Tszyu(99-00) stops Hatton in about 7-8 rounds no doubt.

Hell, the 35 year old Tszyu would have beaten Hatton had he not been innactive in the prior years, and had the hometown ref not allowed Hatton to CHEAT his way to victory.

It seemed to me that Tszyu always had problems with fighters that took his shots and was there for the entire fight out lasting him. Both losses came in the hands of fighters that did this. Those tough fighters that like Vince Phillips and Ricky Hatton would always cause Tszyu problems IMO. Becuase of that, i would have to say Hatton by close decision over a prime Tszyu. Thats just the wrong style. Tszyu looked his best from a distance against fighters that tried to out box him. Also, he wasn't that far from his prime. He was still top 5 pound for pound and had only loss to Vince Phillips many years earlier.

Tszyu was a supreme fighter back in his prime. Unfortunately I think he would have KO'd Hatton.
