Why is it that the userbase of this forum hate on Floyd Mayweather Jr. for wanting to retire undefeated, and choosing to fight past-prime opponets who offer the most money?
On the other hand, why is it that nobody mentions the same flaws when talking about Joe Calzaghe?
Joe is doing the same exact thing. He's gone on record saying that retiring undefeated, means more to him than fighting the best, winning world titles, or anything else in his career.
So why is it acceptable to drag Floyd's name through the dirt in regards to this, but when it comes to Calzaghe nobody mentions it?
Joe's following up a controversial split decision victory over a 43 year old, well past his prime Bernard Hopkins.......with a fight against a 39 year old, well past his prime, 3-3 in his last 6 fights Roy Jones Jr. Why? Because Roy's not a big threat, he can't punch hard, his reflexes are shot, and he's a shell of his former self.....Oh, and he's also offering the most money.
Say what you want about Floyd but at least in his last fight before retirement he had the balls to fight a guy who was the kingpin of a weight division below him who was also undefeated in the ring.
Too bad we can't say the same about Joe...........
