i'm glad that the WBC isnt going to acknowledge that terrible call, that punch was by no means intentional, it was the heat of the moment, and it wasn't all that bad of a punch, and coming from a guy who thinks that rabbit punching is the worst that one could do inside the ring, that punch wasn't that damaging.
what was damaging was the broken nose of lorenzo and the cut over the eye, all caused by punches. lorenzo is a tough bastard, but, even he knew that he couldn't continue with the nose and the cut and the back of the head punch was there in perfect timing for him to get out the fight and get a win without having fight anymore. lorenzo is a verterans veteran, he knows what to do in situations like that, he knows an opportunity when it's present, and you can't fault him for doing so, he was hurt, but not from the last shot, the damage was already done well before that even happened. his nose was smeared across his face, his cut wsa leaking like a busted water main, he had the fight taken out of him and knew that it was going to be a brutal beating had he got back up.
cortez is ****ed through and through, he has done nothing but become a character of himself, this whole " i'm fair but i'm firm ", campaign has done nothing but lead to him missing what is going on in the fights and it also has lead to cortez making terrible decisions inside the ring.
he needs to retire or be forced to, he is ruining fighters lives and careers with his trying to stand out and make a name of himself outside of boxing, instead of letting his professionalism do the work and do the talking.

Why did he move in to protect Lorenzo earlier, when Soto was pounding away? He should have stopped the fight at that point. Cortez is not a competent referee.
Yeah, Cortez should retire... He ****ed up...

This is seemingly what is happening. He seems to actually think people want him to be intervening in the fight. It is like he wants to be a part of it much more than he ever needs to be. Jumping in between two fighters when they are in the climax of action is basically the worst thing a referee can do. The whole point is to keep that type of action flowing smoothly with no breaks or fouls, and if there is a foul to rule the correct decision based on what happens and the fighters intention. I really hope someone decides that it's enough for him to have ruined the fights that he has intervened in so much and just get rid of him.

calling it a draw is better than dq but soto should of got a tko. lorenzo was down way way over 10 seconds.
setana played it over and over. that was a glancing pulled back swipe that lorenzo complained about. he was so out of it and busted up by previous blows he couldnt even stand.

cortez had a senior moment then covered it up with a slightly plausible excuse. man and what was up with him getting in the way of the boxers just before controversy. they should take him off the seniority list and put him at the back of the line and relegate him to non title bouts till he retires.

          someone post the vidclip please.

lorenzo voluntarily fall on his knees when soto approached him to deliver the coup de gras. the most logical thing cortez should do was to stepped up and halt the contest. soto would have then be declared winner by knockout.

jones-griffin has no relevance in that fight because roy jones jr, out of frustration, intentionally hit griffin while griffin was on his kness. in soto-lorenzo, anticipating more punishment from soto, lorenzo drop on his knees to prevent soto from giving more blows. that was lorenzo's way of surrendering... so...

            cortez must be banned.
