It should be ruled a No Contest, not a draw.
Although there is alot of controversy, Soto did make contact with Lorenzo's head when he was down.
And even with that, the intent was there.
The real question is, why the hell did Soto keep punching Lorenzo when he took a knee?
Granted, I think it is the referee's duty to step in between the two fighters and clarify the ruling as a knockdown, but Lorenzo clearly went down and Soto threw two punches!
Why??!?Comment

it sounds like you didnt see the fight. Lorenzo, through the time when he started to slow down, was ducking below the belt line. ive never fight professionally, but i've sparred enough to know that its hard to distinguish when a fighter has taken a knew when they are constantly dipping to that level. all these happens in a split second so if a fighter is developing a pattern, it isnt your fault if you can't tell whats a knee or a dip.
soto did nothing wrong. he destroyed someone who was given the win instead. the thing that pisses me off is that Boxing is so corrupt, the wrong decisions are made, the rules are broken to serve malicious agendas. why the **** can the rules not be broken when its the right thing to do in Soto's case?Comment

They should force Cortez to retire.
Why did he move in to protect Lorenzo earlier, when Soto was pounding away? He should have stopped the fight at that point. Cortez is not a competent referee.Comment

Good, cuz that was straight up BULL****. Cortez is getting old, his reflexes are failing him and he made a ****ed up call last night. However, this is a case where Instant Replay needs to be implemented into boxing. A replay would have cleared up everything. Replays are even used to determine outcomes in college and international wrestling. In one of the more controversial happenings in the last few months, Humberto Soto (43-7-2, 27 KOs) was disqualified in the fourth-round of his bout with Francisco Lorenzo (33-4, 14 KOs) on Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. hmmmmm
The bottom line is Soto did hit him while he was down accident or not.
Jim Lampley said it was a "glancing blow" lets see him take a lil Glancing blow for any pro fighter. I honestly don't think it was thrown intentional to the back of the head. It looked like he was trying to finish him but before he knew it the guy had his head dipped and I seen the direct hit to the back of the head.
I think it should have been treated as a low blow and they should have given him 5 minutes to recover.
That was bullsit the way Joe Cortez pulled Soto off only to let the fight continue. Soto was like "ohhh your not stopping this well then let me jump back on that ass" next thing he knew he was disqualified: (Comment
