Pavlik will be a slight underdog against the guy in his division who has seven times as many title defenses, Arthur Abraham.
Kessler would be a 3:1 favorite against Pavlik, and likely wouldn't lose more than a round or two against thew exciting but unspectacular boxer from Ohio.
This talk of fighters in higher weight divisions ducking Kelly is nonsense. Pavlik had an exciting run, but let's appreciate for what it is. A nice, fortunate streak for a limited boxer/puncher who won't reign for long and likely will never be champ of any division above 160.
Add to that a nice personality and white skin and suddenly you have a people's champion. It's irked me how I genuinely believe part of his hype is a race issue. But...I agree. I would pick both Kessler and Abraham over Pavlik.

Thats not to say he's not an excellent fighter, cause i think he is. I think he's one of the best in the world.
But people on here CONSTANTLY look to his wooping on Andrade. He cant do THAT against elite guys.
Although, he was laying a wooping on Calzaghe early in the fight.
Pavlik-Kessler is, IMO, the best fight to be made in boxing right now.
But it has to simmer a bit so by the time it gets made it'll be huge.

i think ppl are being a bit unfair on pavlik - there was a very good point that a previous poster made and thats is - pavlik is still very young and looks to be a smart and down to earth fighter - imo he will get smarter and sharper and become a better fighter over time. he is 3/4 yrs away from his prime and if he continues to improve on his ring generalship at the current level then i do think he will be one awesome fighter. at the minute i think that pavlik vs a mobile, agile puncher with a decent jab would result in a pavlik win but it would be close, real close.
if teres one thing that annoys me its the hype bandwagon that ppl are jumping on, pavliks bandwagon has gained alot of steam for a couple of reasons a)hes white b)hes strong with good power (not one punch KO power but still enough for most to handle) c)the enteratining fights against taylor.
i get the feeling that alot of good intelligent posters are having a go at pavlik whereas instead we should be having a go at the so called boxing fans who are constantly saying that he could KO anyone in the world etc etc.
imo any pavlik even a prime one would lose to kessler. kessler is just too damn good!!
