nooooo.... he is still a prospect. He is still very very young in a very tough division. Feeding him to the lions would not be a good idea. We can't demand every boxer to start fighting elites just becuase he looks good against average opponents. same thing with JCCjr. I think they bring him up the way they brought cotto. Slowly start puttin him up against people that will push him but he can still beat. Then they go like cotto and go after names that are has beens to get names on his resume. then go from there.

Cotto didn't win a main title till he got to welterweight. And i think his first real test is the Margarito fight, Mosley was a tough test too but we knew Mosley was old.

I don't like that idea. Then that could give kermit a belt which he does not deserve. I say if they really want to test him(which they almost have to know since he is wbc champion) he should fight the winner of judah vs clottey.

how can you be a prospect when you have the most coveted Belt in the 147 pound division? the WBC green strap that floyd jr vacated?

the dude is a title holder but probably the lowest on the totem pole since he hasnt faced the guys the other title holders have.

I see him as a Green Champion a bit raw but none the less he is a champion no more prospect.

This isn't even an opinion- Berto is not a prospect. Winning the WBC Welterweight title makes him a champion. Period. He can be a weak, flawed champion if you want...one whom is going to fall soon....but he's still a title holder. You can't be a champ and a prospect. They contradict each other. Am I getting through?

It is true though. He is now the WBC champion. There is no going back from here.

I don't think everyone that agreed with you was, though- and that's scary.

Collazo, Cintron, Quintana, Clottey, Zudah and Mosley are good matchups for Berto. He should beat at least 2 of those fighters before he heads up to fight any of the top 3. It's interesting how you make comments about deserving a fight. Thanks to Kermit's will to overcome his first loss (and ******ity), Tony got a chance to become a champ again. After losing to Paul Williams, Tony could had been easily ducked by all tittle holders. Berto should fight any of the six fighters I meantioned at the beginning.
