I don't see him as a tough fighter ( he looked lost in the fight he got knocked down in) and his chin would get demolished by cotto. He's never faced a guy with speed jab and power.

He got caught with a good shot an (uppercut).Lots of fighters get dropped early in their career then their chin improves for example Delahoya,Margarito.

Berto still got up and fought on.thats showing heart to me.

And Berto throws fast combinations. If a fighter like Torres who does`nt throw combinations nowhere as near as good as Berto can catch Cotto im sure Berto can also.

His handlers are not rushing him so he has time to improve and i think the longer he goes with stepping up the level of opposition after every fight the better he will get ,and the better the chance he has of beating Cotto.

Yea you can't compare Berto to Floyd just yet. He has to get in the ring with some credible fighters first, but that's inevitable now being he has a belt people are going to come after

Also...LOL @ Floyd fans rushing to defend their man's legacy just off of mentioning Berto & Floyd in the same sentence LOL...get over it, Floyd doesn't love you.

You were just saying that Quintana doesn't have a punch to bother Berto. He has more pop that Rivera. AND he would hit him WAYYYY cleaner. I just think the Berto 'I'll take what you have if you take what I have' is a terribly flawed strategy. People are completly fabricating the " Berto has a good chin and is tough' argument. And they are using it to justify their awe at his power. I'm not buying that ****.

And the Ricard Torres fight was at light welter. He's WAYYYY stronger now. And he got up after he got floored, but his body lanquage was awful, and he looked discouraged. A better fighter would have knocked his lights out.

If he fights a smart guy that takes him off his gameplan, or if he is constantly pressured with a good stiff jab, he'll lose as of today. Hopefully he can improve alot though, because he would be good for the sport. As of now I see another guy blinding the boxing community with flasy knockouts against bad to average fighters.
I think Berto is good at adjusting when Berto realizes he`s getting caught with a lot of shots he becomes more patient ,cautious and defensive. And also he`ll change the angles the punches is coming at to be unpredictable.

A lot of his fights he`s looking for the knockout so he could impress the viewing audience which makes him abandon skills and defense.

Exactly why a guy that backs him up would destroy him. With his back against the ropes he'd be helpless and not throwing back.

Im not saying Berto has a iron chin nor am i saying hes the next Floyd. What im s is that he has saying he has potential to improve.

I say one thing though. If he does`nt improve that defense by the time he fights a puncher with descent skills we may see another Taylor /Pavlik 1.

He is a small guy and has probably been hit more in his short career than Mayweather in his whole career, his foot movement is slower and ****** although he tries, he tends to stay in there for the counter punch and that will cost him. Hint yet? He's another Cotto, a smaller one though.
Mayweathers (like Floyd) come once every 20 years. You will have a sense of how good was Mayweather when you see all these top guys losing among themselves in bloody, brutal fights. I've been wrong before but i really think Cotto vs Margarito isn't gonna be a boxing match if you know what i mean. I also think it will either be a shorter than we expect fight or a longer one but with less action.

Then how come he could`nt hurt Cotto,Joel Julio,or Williams.

I never heard anyone say Berto has a good chin including myself. And i`ve seen berto take a lot of clean punches a not go down and that guy he fought last night was a descent puncher.

If a 36 year old washed up Shane who not as fast as Berto and does`nt hit as hard as Berto at this point in his career can catch Cotto with all those shots and eventually hurt him ,cause Cotto to bleed in his mouth and cause Cotto to run for the last 4 or 5 rounds i`m sure Berto can catch Cotto with a lot of shots also and hurt him.

Do you really believe Cotto`s story of "i had the fight in the bag thats why i ran" .Cotto was hurt thats why he ran.He said in his corner that he was bleeding in his mouth.

Some idiot was just talking about Floyd fans defending floyd's legacy WTF???? What has floyd legacy got to do with people relating Berto to him in terms of fighting style/technics? Some of this cotto fans needs to go back to school.

Cotto's chin is nothing to write home about either..and he has ZERO defense for right hands...NONE.

Believe me..I'm not one of those guys that is blinded by power..

It's just that the "top" guys at 147 have lousy defense and Berto can change a fight with one shot with either hand.

Berto will be hell at 147 after a few more fights..

Look at Margarito...no defensive ..squares-up wide as a barn..takes 3 shots to land one.

You can't do that with Berto.

There is a lot wrong with Andre's game.....sure....but.....there is a lot wrong with Cotto's game...Tony's as well..

So it's not like Berto is surrounded by defensive wizards..
