  • The saddest days in your boxing life?

Name some of the saddest days that you've had watching boxing. I'm just talking about the fights you've seen in person or on tv. Obviously Ali getting beat down by Holmes was sad but i was baby then.

For me it's gotta be the Trinidad-Hopkins fight.

I loved Felix and think he is one of the greatest fighters. To see Bernard outbox him and rough him up was pretty sad for me especially considering I never liked Bernard. Tito has never been the same since then , partially due to retiring one fight later and dulling his skills , and elevated Bernard to the point of being very overrated imo.

Terrible Terry Norris beating Sugar Ray Leonard
Larry Holmes pounding on Tex Cobb
    Larry Holmes pounding on Ali
Meldrick Taylor getting robbed against Chavez
    Hasim Rahman tko'ing Corrie Sanders
Buster Douglas mailing it in against Holyfield.

lots of sad days. Terry Norris over Leonard was depressing for sure.

2nd for me is probably the Tua-Lewis fight.

I loved Tua and the way he fought. To see him just eat jab and right hands all night long from Lewis was sad. He could've done a lot better if he had taken care of his weight and training and had not dulled his skills fighting tomato cans while waiting for his shot at the title.

I often wonder how David would've done against Lewis in his prime (below 230 lbs.) which is pretty sad considering he was young enough to still be in his prime if he had just watched his weight. I dunno if he could ever beat someone on Lennox's level but weighing a lot less and having more stamina would've helped.

RJJ/Tarver 2 - was really a sad day for me after all Roy had just accomplished.

I remember that fight well. You know Tua said after the fight he was hurt in the first round and couldn't do ****. But he hung in there and took his beating like a man. Not even sure more stamina woulda helped much.
He was a tough mfer for sure. The height and reach advantage was just ridiculous in that fight.

I was a kid for Ali-Holmes and to watch him get systematically destroyed was no fun.

When you're a kid, things affect you different. You think you're favorite fighters can walk through walls.

oh ****! how could i ever forget that one?

roy was getting old but i still considered him so invincible. that was a shocker though looking back not unexpected.

i might have to switch my number one pick to this one.

roy was much greater than tito (though i loved tito more) and i dislike tarver even more than hopkins and believe tarver is even more overrated.

seriously...... how do you ko a great boxer like roy with your eyes closed like a little "fanny" and not consider it luck?

                    i feel you.

my dad got me started watching boxing when i was 6-7 yrs. old. i was only 1 when ali and holmes fought though. but my dad had a boxing video collection and i watched ali's entire career as a kid and even though i knew the outcome and it was years and years ago the holmes beatdown still made me really sad.
