And that would be all find and dandy if he wasnt about to be breast fed the WBC Welterweight Championship of the World.

How can you end up with a belt in the toughest division in boxing without ever beating a fighter ranked in the top 15-20..... i dont see what is so special about Berto that he just has things handed to him.

Wow, only took a couple posts for someone to take what i said completely out of context.

You're full of **** if you call it a flash knockdown, if it were a "flash" he wouldnt have staggered back to his corner like a drunkard and wouldnt have needed nearly two minutes to recover. He was out on his feet and if the round hadnt ended all people would be talking about now was how good Berto looked before he was starched by that journeyman Cosme Rivera.

I don't really see anything special with Berto.

He'll win some and lose some against the top 10 WW, but if you take away the flashiness in his style, he looks very ordinary.

I would pick all of those guys to beat Berto without much trouble.

            Isaac Hlatswayo and Clottey also.

Id say Berto is on the level of Jackson Osei Bonsu at this point.

I think Berto could hang with Zab, he might be able to beat him.

Did you see the Estrada fight where he methodically broke him down enroute to the KO? I was incredibly impressed with that performance...

Also Hitman, chances are if Berto gets past Rodriguez this weekend, we'll see him against a top ten ww later this year and then I can bump this thread up....

Watch this video, Berto will get dropped with about 15 seconds left in the round. The bell rings saving him but watch how ****ed up he is going back to his corner, his feet are all splayed out as he waddles like a penguin back to his corner.

1 minute was not enough time to recover... watch close in the vid... as it is about to end you can see Berto's corner man ripping the tape from his glove on his right hand behind the graphic when it pops up.

As soon as the next round was going to start the corner brings the ripped tape to the refs attention and wastes about another 30 seconds fixing the problem and allowing Berto to further recover.

Berto is nothing special packing his Wladimir Katsidis chin, he will get mauled by any legit WW and i wouldnt be surprised if he was upset by the powderpuff chosen for his first title fight

heres the vid. see for yourselves.

1st time ive seen that and that was a heavy KD, he was hurt no question! But it was a great shot that he didnt see coming and it landed Flush so i aint gonn write his chin off just yet but he has shown vulnerability.
Sure looked like they were doing something Dodgy to his glove eh! Everybody thinks there Angelo ****in Dundee these days! lol
As for the top 10 WW i give him a real shot against some, Collazo he beats IMO possibly Zab, Clottey and Cintron also. He has time to improve a few things aswell i think he will be a force

I think right now he can beat zab, collazo, possibly mosley, possibly clottey

if he fights zab or collazo , ill call a steam roll...

mosley and clottey would be EXCITING fights...

I think berto has one of the, if not the best jab in ww division.. and mosley doesnt move his head enough...

clottey would be a TRUE test... as he is for anyone...

berto cant beat margarito cotto or pwill... not yet anyway

and quintana and cintron im unsure of

Sure i saw the Estrada fight. Estrada was in there because he is exactly the kind of fighter that will make Berto look good. Slow, stalker who will follow Berto in straight lines all over the ring.

Estrada is a tough guy and a great action fighter but he took a beating from both Cintron and i think it took some mileage off of him. Estrada also lost to Ishe Smith who is a "do nothing and ***** about the decision" type of fighter.

Dont get me wrong, i dont think Berto is complete ****, but im not gonna get behind a guy who has everything handed to him. I have never even heard of the guy he is fighting for the vacant title, meanwhile there are at least 10 other guys he couldve been matched with to make it an intriguing and worthwhile fight.

You can bumo this thread, I can live with being wrong, Id rather make my case known beforehand though. Im not the guy who waits for the result and says "I knew it!!"
