    i think you're incorrect.

royce is the youngest of the helio sons. (royler , rickson , rorion , relson , royce , rolker)

royce is 43 and sakuraba is 39. when royce and sak fought in pride grand prix royce was 35 and sak was 30.

plus kazushi is more well rounded than most of the gracies. the guy beat quinton jackson for god's sake. he's just a great fighter in his prime.

Not all MMA fighters are average at everything. Numerous people have listed high level accomplishments many MMA fighters have had in sports other than MMA.

        Look at the UFC champions.

BJ Penn-Jiujitsu prodigy, earned his BJJ black belt in 3 years (usually takes 8-10) and won the Mundial World Championships, after 3 years of training. He's also considered a good striker and has stuffed takedowns from All-American NCAA division 1 wrestlers like Matt Hughes.

Georges St.Pierre-BJJ brown belt, excellent striker, trains with the Canadian national wrestling team and was considering trying for the Olympics this year.

Anderson Silva-Excellent Muay Thai practitioner and BJJ black belt

Quinton Jackson-State wrestling champ (and able to outwrestle two Olympians in Henderson and Lindland) and great striker (was able to knock out Cyril Abidi twice under kickboxing rules) and has excellent submission defence seen in his ability to defend submissions from fighters like Ricardo Arona.

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira-Considered one of the best submission artists ever in MMA, BJJ black belt, Judo black belt and has at the very least good striking.

The problem with the Gracies is that they still view stand-up fighting as somewhat a necessary evil that they have to learn.

Ralek Gracie just fought at Dream 4, and though he won, his stand-up looked worse than Royce's in the first UFCs. Renzo is the only Gracie to really ever look to develop his striking. It's a liability for them, and unless the next generation of the family embrace it, I don't see them getting far in the future world of MMA.

Loads of respect to Ralek though, he was originally going to compete in an exhibition grappling contest, but he stepped in at the last minute to fight a hard hitting undefeated Russian Sambo expert.
i think royce was his striking coach......

There are quite a few MMA fighters who have got medals or have at least competed at the olympics.

                  Dan Henderson-competed at greco-roman
                  Randy Couture-competed at greco-roman
                  Hidehiko Yoshida-Judo gold medalist
                  Makoto Takimoto-Judo gold medalist
                  Naoya Ogawa-Judo silver medalist
                  Jung Bu-Kyung-Judo silver medalist
Kazuyuki Miyata-Free Style wrestling gold medalist

People dont watch the olympics because of boxing. Fans do. The general public watches cable and gets bombarded by Chuck Lidell's Xyience commercials and UFC event promo commercials. You can knock on every door on your street right now and you'd be lucky to find even 1person who knows who audley harrison is
