I dont really think a win over Miranda counts for that much. He hasn't got any wins over quality opposition. I agree that the Taylor wins were great. But that's only one fighter.

It's the hype that Miranda had, people were supposedly avoiding him because of his punching power and the win over Allan Green was good.

Jeff Lacy never had any wins over quality opposition either (only fighters who were quality in the past) but it was a very good win for Calzaghe nonetheless.

Pavlik put on a very good performance against Miranda, who expected him to walk through Miranda like that?

The Lockett win won't count much towards Pavlik's resume but you could see his quality as a fighter in the way he dispatched Lockett.

Yes. Miranda is overhyped on the basis of his spectacular KO's.

Sartison is a better opponent than Lockett. I'm quite sure that a convincing Kessler win will not be accompanied by the fanfare Pavlik received after the Lockett destruction. And why not? Maybe it's because Kessler isn't an HBO fighter???

After last weekends destuction of welshman Gary Lockett at the hands of Kelly Pavlik, Pavlik is praised from all around. Lockett is only about 50 in the computerized rankings of the IBO and 32 at Boxrec, but Pavlik, who’s no.1, gets a freebee since he’s fought so many big names lately so a soft touch is excuseable. Love keeps streaming towards Pavlik.

I’d like to make a comparison with Mikkel Kessler.

Later this month he is to fight Dimitri Sartison for the WBA SMW title. Kessler is dissed all around for fighting such an unknown quantity. Why? Sartison is also about no. 50 in the IBO rankings but 14 in Boxrec, and Kessler has fought for his life in his last 6 fights.

Pavlik is ranked around no. 7 in various p4p ratings while Kessler is not in the top 10.

Pavlik should be rather higher p4p.
He is undefeated, and knocked out Miranda and Taylor, far better accomplishments than anything Kessler has done.
At least Pavlik beat a fighter who was on the pound for pound list, Kessler has yet to do that.
