Most people think he would have been a greater fighter if Cus hadn't died so early in his career and I agree.

Say what you will, It's pretty amazing that he became HW champion of the world at the young age of 20! A feat that will likely, never be accomplished again.

Good post. Yes, becoming HW champ at 20 is a great accomplishment regardless of who he beat to get there.

And yes, if Cus had lived longer things might have been different. But, I'm one who believes that Mike is such a head case that it would have been irrelevant.

Yeah, I agree, because Lennox Lewis never lost to any lesser opponents...oh, wait....nevermind

Oliver McCall and Hasim Rahman, step on up!!

I don't think he is great but he had great potential.

But he had a very good chin, it took a lot of shots to get him out of there. His heart was questionable but he did try to get up every time he got knocked down. His stamina wasn't great but it wasn't horrible.

What he lacked was mental toughness and focus.

Most likely not. Either way, you're young to the sport.

You don't think that if Mike Tyson came back and trained AT ALL for Buster Douglas, he wouldn't have knocked him out?

I'm not dis*****g that prime Lewis MIGHT have beaten prime Tyson, but to use the Buster Douglas argument, when a strung-out Iron Mike basically didn't train at all, is just dumb. It's the same thing as throwing out Rahman and McCall.

People always talk about a "prime" Mike Tyson, well that Tyson got set on his ass by Buster Douglass of all people. That's right, BUSTER DOUGLASS. The only two elite fighters Mike ever fought KO'd him without really much effort at all.

Tyson had no chin, he had no heart, and he had no stamina. What he did have was the mental fortitude of a 3 yr old.

When he lost, he didn't just lose, he got straight up KO'd.

"Iron" Mike Tyson never existed. The man is a myth.
