Kelly Pavlik = Hype, Joe Calzaghe = Truth

Ya'll had to hype up someone who stands a chance against Calzaghe but it's a bit excessive now. Pavlik is a B Level fighter, no more.

      You keep telling yourself that.
      Kelly is good.

I like Joe C. He is the man at 168.
Kelly is the man at 160.

      A fight at catch weight?

Should Kelly move up to prove he is good or should Joe move down to prove he is the man?

Kelly should not go anywhere and clean out the Middle Weight Division, which he can.

When was the last time Joe got out of his weight class? When was the last time Joe got out of his comfort zone? When is the first time Joe ever left Europe to fight anyone? When was the first time Pavlik left the United States to fight anyone?

Kelly Pavlik is no Jeff Lacy nor is he a B-Hop.

Kelly is a man who just keeps coming and coming and coming. Kelly is like a Tony Margarito. Kelly has grown men pee on themselves. Margarito has made grown men cry inside and out side of the ring.

I am not trying to say anything bad about Calzaghe. I like the dude but right now, Kelly is trying to find his own. Let the man rule the Middle Weight division for a while.

Kelly is much better than Lacy I agree.

Joe left his weight class and Europe in his last fight against Hopkins.

If Kelly doesn't fight Joe he is ducking him.

This guy is far worse than Domain.. Too many threads about Lockett and Calzaghe and saying how Lockett will KO Pavlik and put him in the P4P.. He's got guts to put Pavlik in his signature in fact Gary Lockett wasn't attending the post fight anymore because he was in the Hospital with Dizzy eyes.. It's alright if it's competitive but damn Pavlik dismantle Lockett like bum and down with his knees twice... I'm really wondering what's his username before this troll..

Kelly is one millioin times better than Lacy.

Joe left for the first time at the age of 36?

            Kelly is only 26.

Kalzaghe has yet to move up to a higher weight class other than 168.

My point is, Kelly is a Middle weight and he should stay there until he becomes more polished. I don't think Pavlik vs Calzaghe will happen but it might. I have seen stranger things in this sport. We have to wonder how much time Joe has. The clock has been ticking and a tocking and not even the great Calzaghe can escape father time. But to say that Pavlik is ducking Calzaghe is a little absurd. If Kelly was a supper middle weight, I would probably agree with you, but at this point and time I can not agree.

You can't even spell his name and yes, he went up to 175.

                Joe beat Hopkins at 175.

I was only messing about really, but I do think I'm seeing a bit of a double standard in some of the attitudes to Kelly Pavlik. Is he excused from the 'beating great fighters' demand that is routinely screamed at Joe Calzaghe by US posters here. Also, the same 'Kelly is a MW' excuse applies equally to Joe C when he was at SMW and guys like Jones were at LHW.

I actually think that America has realised that Pavlik is one of maybe only one or two young guys with the potential to be P4P name in the next few years and they don't want him in with Joe because that would upset that status if he were to lose. Just an observation.

Anyway journeyman2000, you are right that Kelly still has time and it isn't his job to provide Calzaghe with the name he wants, since by comparison he is only starting his career. However, these two ARE the two most credible 'big names' around the SMW weight class right now (Kelly fought Taylor at 166) so the fight IS a logical one to make, and if Kelly doesn't want we have to assume to he thinks he might lose, which is kind of ducking, isn't it?
