I shot you an e-mail. Floyd will be back, it's a given. He's going to wait in the shadows until someone has all the belts and then he'll come back for a ridiculously large PPV fight. He'll make a quick $30,000 and retire again until he feels like making some more money. LOL.

Sometimes there comes a time when the very thing that ignited you about the thing you once loved...doesn't live in your heart anymore.

It's almost like that phyne chick you met, and once you've taken her home you gotten it from every position imaginable...for several days, months and years and now you're tired of her...I don't care who she's with. That's Floyd's train of thought, "I literally hit it in every position imaginable, so what else do you want me to do baby??"

The truth is...We love the sport more the PBF does. Fans...like Floyd...get tired of the sport, while a new one is born everyday, it levels the playing field. We feed more off a person's pain then the actual punisher does, was Tyson the only fighter to get it...to kiss his victim after punishing him? Mike was the best, Floyd & Mike reside in the same town and Floyd doesn't want to end up like Mike...one day he will get hurt and never be able to re-coop after a near fatal knock out. Gerald McClellan was a Junior Mike Tyson, and Floyd is as well, but he's learned from both their pasts.

Every fighter doesn't have the 2005 Alan Green mentality when he beat Jaidon out of the ring, and almost killed him...I never saw Green go over to check on Jaidon, nor even take a moment to pray for not having his chin checked by a then chin checker, all I remembered was seeing his eyes in a V position and he shouting obscenitites because he beat "The Don." I hope Alan Green has changed, and learned from Nigel Benn's mental experience.

In Floyd's case, He's the one that's had his face cracked, had his own body beat, has beaten others down, made people piss blood, ended careers, made grown men cry, made their children cry...their are a lot reasons to make Floyd want to give it up...maybe his heart has softened to opponents.

And, if this that's to soft for you, let's do Floyd's mental math...EVERYONE you have beaten was supposed to be the toughest around, and you've smashed them...what supposed to be so different about Cotto which whom I'm a HUGE fan of, but seriously, though I think it would be the one fight Floyd would never forget...what's so different about Cotto to Floyd? Though Judah was smashed by Cotto (my favorite), he was hit with an onslaught of low blows...you know getting hit in the balls makes you weak, and will make you guard your spot next time. But, when Floyd gets his pen and paper he sees.

            I beat Judah--------------------------------------------------winner: Floyd
            Judah busted up Cotto---------------------------------------winner: Judah
Cotto busted up Judah's after busting his balls serveral time------No winner

So why would I (Floyd) fight someone that got busted up by someone I busted up...that couldn't bust me up...even after he busted my balls? It makes sense to the millions around the world for our personal fantasy, but it doesn't add up in Floyd's head.

DLH has never been battered the way Cotto has by opponents, so in Floyd's mind he feels he has already beat the best of the best...so what else do I have to prove? furthermore, why in the hell would I have the passion for a sport that has no more love for me? I'm tired...I've worked my ass off, but no one wants to give me my bonus for my hard work...I quit! Floyd's given us a great show, and if he wants to ride off in the sunset...let him tip his brim and go in peace. Until then, I'll continue to enjoy Cotto (the new ringmaster) and all the greats that continue to excite us now.

Someone said this was a good objective read. I don't think so. It reads like a "backhanded compliment". He's basically saying good riddens and let's get on with boxing. The sport will miss Floyd Mayweather. I know I will. Every sport needs a controversial figure. Floyd knew his role. He played the bad guy for your entertainment and made lots of money doing so because many of you paid to see him get beat and as long as he fought you would continue to pay hoping that he would get beat. He is an excellent technician and the most accurate punching fighter by far. I would have loved to see him fight Cotto. If he decides to comeback for one more fight, that should be it.

Nothing wrong with backhanded compliments. He gave enough praise. It was 60-40

Oscar would spell this whole thing B-O-L-O-G-N-A. I'm not talking about De La Hoya either...

In all seriousness though, there's a good chance that all of the clamor for a Welterweight Champion to fight other Welterweights (currently one of the deepest divisions in the sports' history), got to him. He wants big name, big money fights, and doesn't want to do the hard-working, fighting-champion thing anymore. He may pull a Leonard, where he stands by and watches someone else clean out the division (Cotto), and then come back for a super-bout worth a ton of main****** ratings and money; a la Leonard vs. Hagler.

It could be great for the sport.

Or he literally chickened out. De La Hoya could have beaten him if his heart wasn't in it. Cotto and/or Margarito definitely could have for the same reason, or on sheer boxing ability. It's very possible that he simply didn't have it in him to mentally prepare for a war that could have ended up a trilogy or something. It would have been better for boxing, but like an earlier poster said, he doesn't want to do the Mike Tyson thing where his heart isn't in it anymore.

Thank God This Guy Retired From The Sport, Lets Let The Real Boxers Get The Fame And Recognition They Deserve. He Was Only Around For The Money And The Fame And All He Was Doing Was Giving Us The Ring Around To Not Have To Fight The Welter Weights. Lets Be Honest He Never Fought The Good Champs To Not Lose To Them, A Real Champ Goes In There And Gives It His Best. A Perfect Example Is Quintana Who Got Pumeled And Still Wants To Go Out And Fight Another Fight With Williams Even Though Its Useless But It Shows You How A Real Welterweight Thinks And Acts. My Personal Opinion Is That He Was Never A Real Welterweight Champ, He Was A Paper Ww Champ That Was Looking To Make Himself Seem The Best And He Was Really In All These Other Guys Shadow. He Never Wanted To Fight Margarito, Cotto, Mosley And All These Other Guys. He Was A Good Lightweight Camp But Not A Ww Champ. So All He Did Was Do Us A Favor And Retire So Those Real Champ Can Come Out!! Thank You Mayweather No More Mediocre Champs!!
