Even Pavlike knows what's up with European fighters

During the Post-fight interview Kellerman asked him about Abraham and he said something like "Well everybody knows you're not gonna get alot of credit for beating european fighters, nobody even knew about Joe Calzaghe until the Hopkins fight"

    OUCH

The problem with lots of Americans on here is that they actually think it is a good thing to be ignorant about the fighters that exist in the rest of the world.

For some reason many of them have the impression that anything they don't know about must be ****, and by ignoring it they seem to think that they are demonstrating this superiority, when in fact all it really shows is arrogance and yes, ignorance.

Take Calzaghe for example: many Americans here genuinely seem not to have heard about him until the Hopkins fight. For others he first seems to have appeared with Lacy. Thing is that this is a guy who is undefeated as a pro and a Ring champ at two weights, having been the SMW champ for ten years. Don't you think that maybe this is a guy who might have been worth checking out? If you're a boxing fan how can you say no?

Nationality and race is no basis on which to pick the outcome of any fight, but if you ritually ignore every fighter from outside your own country then ultimately that's all you'll have to go on when making your pick. Effectively you are watching boxing with one eye open and one eye closed. If you do this, then you shouldn't be surprised when every so often a fighter comes hurtling out of your blindspot and radically alters the picture you thought you were looking at. The best thing to do in that situation is to open your other eye and take a good look around you, to avoid any further surprises, not close it even more tightly and pretend everything is exactly the same as you thought it was before.

Maybe they also need to check out current WBO light-heavyweight champion Zsolt Erdei. That is if they can find him. The guy already has 10 WBO title defenses and hasn't fought anybody relevant at 175lb. I guess the plan is to have 7 or 8 more title defenses in the next couple of years and then he will travel to America and proclaim himself as the best light-heavyweight when Glen Johnson, RJJ, Tarver, etc,. are done beating each other.
