Yes, ONLY because Hopkins was 43. I don't think much of Pavlik. I give him his due for being a tough guy, but he can't beat a boxer. Pavlik would be wise to stay at middleweight, but he could even lose to Abraham.

Pavlik could turn out to be another Lacy. Afterall, he was at his prime and dominating his division, obviously Pavlik is more skilled and is a big threat....but Lacy was the favourite in many eyes at the time. Pavlik is also smaller and unproven at SMW (Taylor also moved up for their 2nd bout) where Joe has just conquered who was known as the best at LHW.

If this fight comes off and Calzaghe wins, there will many excuses from the haters about what i have mentioned whereas if Kelly wins, Joe would be labelled a fake. To the forums, this fight will do little for Joe. To the World, it would mean History.

Had Lacy ever beat anyone as good as Taylor in his career? Pavlik has better wins and is much more skilled. All Lacy had going for him was power, but Pavlik is a more complete fighter...

All these things are hugely questionable.

Kessler's jab is very good.
Kessler has never at any point shown signs of having poor stamina.
Pavlik's power at SMW may be nothing compared to Kessler's.
You have no idea if Pavlik would get discouraged because he's never had to face getting spanked off Calzaghe for 12 rounds.
