He isn't significantly better than Kessler, if at all. I think Kessler is one of the better, more accomplished fighters in the sport and Calzaghe bested him in a pretty good fight. That was a very good win for Joe. If Calzaghe beat Kelly it'd be a very good win as well and I think Calzaghe would receive a lot of respect for that.

Because Pavlik destroyed Edison Miranda and Jermain Taylor. Kessler savagely beat Mundine and Andrade, but those wins aren't as good as Kessler's. Pavlik arugably has the better 1-2. Pavlik also showed some mixing up against Lockett, something Kessler didn't do against Calzaghe.


Though I voted no, even when Hopkins being 43. I thought Hopkins style was the best to try and defeat Calzaghe. Calzaghe had shown he had big trouble with rough and tough fighters and was suspectable to big right hands. And I was right somewhat. Hopkins made that fight very tough and close for Calzaghe and I don't see Pavlik doing the same.

Hopkins was the best fighter Calzaghe has ever faced. But he's past his prime at 44 years old and isn't the "threat" that Pavlik is in his prime.
