Calzaghe/RJJ is a meaningless fight. And Calzaghe shouldn't fight Jones. Jones has no belts, the recent win against a faded Tito means nothing, and clearly Jones is a shell of his former greatness. This is a payday fight for Jones and Calzaghe.

WTF??? Pavlik is the undisputed middleweight champ. He destroyed Taylor and both Taylor and Calzaghe struggled against Hopkins. I don't think there's another boxer that is thought of more highly than Pavlik except other undisputed champs.

It won't change anything because CAlzaghe is the man around already 168.. Calzaghe/Pavlik is just a way better fight with much more significance than Calzaghe/Jones.

remember every fighter here has people that will discount what the boxers do no matter what. i'm one of the guys that don't think that highly of joe but he's still a good fighter in my eyes and not someone to be crapped on.

but do you see my point that a tarver and jones win will mean more than a pavlik win right now? i don't rate a win over an old hopkins that high but it's still HOPKINS! and i gave joe credit for taking the 175 lineal. the same with jones and tarver. pavlik won't add to joe's calzaghe unless kelly ends up dominating for years to come. frankly i want roy to retire. seeing him lose hurts. tarver i want joe to embarass though.

NEWSFLAsH: Gary lost to Pavlik because he was outclassed, Joe is more than a few steps above Lockett on the "class ladder" and would not be an easy win for Pavlik, not at all.

I can't lie I haven't, other than Hopkins fight, the short clips of his past victories, and some of the kessler fight. But judging from what I saw against Hopkins I say yes Calzaghe will more than likely lose. And I didn't say anything about chin, workrate, defense, movement, and skill- which Pavlik is all superior in.

Thing is, I don't dislike Pavlik or even think he's a bad fighter, he is very good. Unfortunately for him he is somewhat ponderous and static, stylistically made for JC.

By the way, in order to think anyone is going to "destroy" the never-even-seriously-hurt Joe Calzaghe you have to being pretty short sighted yourself I think.

Joe Calzaghe is incredibly hard to hit with any regularity. He has eaten less leather in his whole career than some fighters do in a single bout.
