Well Vargas was a light-middleweight so what was Calzaghe supposed to do, chop off a leg to make the weight? Ditto for Trinidad and Wright. Toney was a cruiserweight by the time Calzaghe won his SMW title. Hopkins pulled out of a fight with Calzaghe several years ago in order to fight a lesser opponent for less than half the money.

Which just leaves Jones. Have a look at what happened when Steve Collins tried to get a fight with Roy Jones in order to see how Roy reacts to European SMWs who want to fight him. Collins even went to his house to try and get him to take the fight.
