    He'll be back.

He's simply too young and in too good of shape. He'll be too bored soon. He's been a gym rat, suddenly he'll either realize he's doing it for no reason or it'll rekindle his desire to win after a while. Even if he steps out of the game for a couple of years he can come back and still be close enough to his prime to mix it up in the game.

I'd hope that everybody wants him to come back. Him retiring doesn't help the sport.

wait til everyone REALLY starts talkin, he retired before cotto, and he could lose... then cotto takes over the division, and works up the p4p list..

floyd wont be able to handle it knowing that hes a better fighter...
this clears the way for oscar to fight cotto... this is what we all want because once cotto beats dlh he'll become a ppv star and then cotto/floyd will be made. trust me.

How does the 2nd most popular fighter in the sport and taking away a potential super fight between Cotto help the sport?

Do you think the average boxing fan gives a **** that a bunch of tards on a internet forum insult his resume or claim he's been ducking fighters for years?

Hell no. He's a helluva talent and easily the best fighter in the game at the moment. Him departing only hurts the sport. It's not like while he's around other fighters can't gain recognition or something.

Floyd saw Calzaghe starting to dominate the threads on here, so he did this to get his name back out there. He'll be back. He never took hardly any punishment in the ring and is still in his prime. If stays retired, more power to him, he can probably make a ton of money promoting, or hell, maybe even training.

he didnt provide the aspect which helps all combat sports. he was great at hyping the fight but horrible at delivering. DLH/Mayweather I hurt the sport more than it helped it. Casual fans bit, but didnt like the taste and the numbers showed it with DLH/Hatton.

And casual fans only respect talent when they like an athlete, when they despise him, they could care less. if what you guys were saying is true about fans buying his fights to see him less, then they never cared about how good he was in the first place.

Now the right fights will be getting the attention even if its only a portion of what Floyd's fights were getting and Boxing will continue to rise eventually.

Excuse me? The fans didn't like Mayweather-Hatton? What the **** have you been smoking? Further, if you don't think being despised (which Floyd isn't, you spend too much time on this site if you think so) helps sell tickets or make people interested in a fight you're crazy.

He'll at least take his last big payday against DLH before he quits. After that I wouldn't be surprised.
