now its not... so wtf does that tell you?
So boxing was in prime time for years and years waiting for Tyson to come along and then retire before removing it? It had been a staple for decades, and people lost interest in boxing and it got moved into a niche market, thus no longer on major stations.

how could the best fighters fighting for the best titles possible be bad for the sport now? thats whats gonna happen now that Floyd is out of the picture isnt it? the right fights are going to be made. hopefully of course. unless Cotto gets a big head which is very possible.

Because the culture is different. Further, Tyson didn't make television come to prime time or networks. It was all ready there.

If Joe Calzaghe said this you'd know he's telling the truth but because it's Floyd, he's lying.

The culture and entertainment as a whole is different.

1: As I've stated, it was all ready on TV so Tyson didn't suddenly bring it back, as you're saying Floyd would have to.

2: Media today is all about niche marketing. Broad appeal no longer applies given the litany of different options.

3: Even if none of what I said was true, you're talking about a time when boxing was still popular. The Foreman-Moorer fight by modern standards did absolutely insane ratings as well. Boxing was still being talked about. It went from the Duran, Hagler, Leanord, Hearns time... to the Mike Tyson time.
