According to you JC isn't in the top 10 p4p. The vast majority of boxing fans would therefore say that you need to 'get real'.

Sure. Who cares where a fight takes place? Home advantage can be beneficial on a psychological level, but unless the judges are biased it doesn't take anything away from the win.

Yeah, but I can't be that biased because if you check the other thread on this subject you'll see that I voted for Pacquiao over Calzaghe: http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=186448

Well, I dont consider myself a follower of other people's opinion so I guess you got me there....Maybe, I'm one of the few who doesnt understand the significance of a future De La Hoya fight and become confused of the hype of fighters such as him and others (Calzaghe included) when there are far better fighters to see.... Maybe Im a rebel, or maybe Im right in considering Calzaghe the Milli Vanilli of boxing.... Sure they won grammies and recieved the popular vote to match but when you uncover the pomp and circumstance, Calzaghe will be remembered just as those dread headed singers as outright frauds........

I think you are confusing yourself..... Home advantage isnt called "advantage " for nothing..... Let me put this in terms more acceptable to you, just imagine every soccer game Manchester United plays is at their own stadium... Would that be fair? Leaving your home, having to make time, weather, people and surrounding adjustments is as vital as training itself... Also, ever heard of hometown judging????

Yeah, but it's more likely that you're wrong and that Calzaghe is one of the top 10 fighters p4p.

I think you are confusing yourself..... Home advantage isnt called "advantage " for nothing..... No confusion on my part, I clearly identified what I considered to be the benefits of home advantage, and your analogy doesn't really fit. A home game for Man United is one that takes place at Old Trafford. A 'home' fight for Calzaghe is one that takes place within the UK. This means that when Calzaghe fought in Newcastle, Scotland, London and various other places he is said to have had home advantage, even though in reality it was a very different situation to the one that Man United find themselves in at Old Trafford.

I'm not sure why you brought up hometown judging because I already addressed that in my post and it isn't at all relevant to Calzaghe's career. You'll also note that virtually none of the people that criticised Calzaghe for only getting a SD against Hopkins bring up the fact that all the judges were American and that the one that scored the fight for BH was from his home state.

It's also worth noting that both Sven Ottke and Chris John have previously been given decisions in fights that the majority of people felt they lost. Obviously neither you or Domain brought that up, although if that's because of lack of knowledge of deliberate omission I'm not sure.

Furthermore your earlier comparison was false because Calzaghe has fought in 3 different foreign countries. Many top boxers have not. One example is Mayweather of course, yet this does not detract from how he is regarded. Unless of course you think that Vegas judges always score fights accurately and that nobody had any complaints about the Castillo decision...

He's the P4P #1 wacky, waving, arm flailing, inflatable tube man...

Don't you have anything better to do then surf the internet half your life stroking Calzaghe's hot dog? I'm pretty sure even Joe himself would tell you to give it a rest. Quit being such a butt sniffer....

Pound for pound was made as a fantasy to say if there was no weight class and we and nothing to think about it was jst 1 guy vs 1 guy, so say Joe C vs Manny Pac who would win........ and Joe would win that fight so pound for pound he would be better
LOL really buddy? First off in a P4P battle Pac would absolutely ROCK Cal.
Also P4P isnt who would win, its who is better overral, regardless of weight class.
