thats what i looked at.. i dont question tommy hearns and his power... but the fact that roy went to heavyweight and stunned ruiz... say what u want about ruiz... but roy came from 154 pounds... to stun a guy that weighed 240 pounds.... i think thats quite impressive power wise...Comment

It is, but then Hearns never got a chance to do that so it makes it harder to compare.thats what i looked at.. i dont question tommy hearns and his power... but the fact that roy went to heavyweight and stunned ruiz... say what u want about ruiz... but roy came from 154 pounds... to stun a guy that weighed 240 pounds.... i think thats quite impressive power wise...Comment

well right, i wasnt out saying... ROY JONES WOULD CRUSH TOMMY HEARNS, in terms of power... but i felt that roy had the edge... with the HW bid he did... thats where i was coming from, and i think its a reasonable argument...Comment

Roy carried his power from 160 to 175, just as Hearns carried his from 147 to 168, although I do give Hearns more credit for being able to KO much bigger men. I'd have to say Hearns had more power, with the age old saying "speed = power" being more appropriate for Roy.
Although, he DID stop Virgil Hill with a body shot, Y'ALL MUSTA FORGOT!Comment

That's true. I haven't voted yet because I'm not certain either way.
Yeah I remember that, I swear I remember hearing his rib break...Roy carried his power from 160 to 175, just as Hearns carried his from 147 to 168, although I do give Hearns more credit for being able to KO much bigger men. I'd have to say Hearns had more power, with the age old saying "speed = power" being more appropriate for Roy.

Also with the styles... roy would carry fighters... where he could obviously knock them out but chose to go the distance... where hearns was a more instinctive killer in the ring...Roy carried his power from 160 to 175, just as Hearns carried his from 147 to 168, although I do give Hearns more credit for being able to KO much bigger men. I'd have to say Hearns had more power, with the age old saying "speed = power" being more appropriate for Roy.

I dont think that makes hearns have more power, but the way he always went for the knockout, gives a perception of him having more power...Comment

I think the reason its hard to give it to roy.. is because roy didnt go for the KO like hearns did.... i have no doubt in my mind... that roy could of KOed almost every damn fighter he faced if he really wanted too... i think he could of even knocked ruiz out, if he really wanted to go all out... its just not his style...
but hearns had a lot more killer instinct in the ring.. so his KO record makes you believe he has more power...
he may or may not...i just felt with the HW bid roy did.. and stunning a heavyweight, gave it to roy for me... but obviously hearns has great points to be a harder hitter as well...Comment
