i have had a hard time predicting a winner too but i plumped for Marg cause i just feel its written in the stars that Cotto loses this fight to get Floyd off the hook so he can claim he was not a worthy challenger thus justifying his ducking him , its not fair obviously but that is what i can see happening ,on top of that i have a feeling Cotto is made for Marg allthough i would 'nt be suprised to see Cotto win either LOL

Either way it will be a great fight, i just feel everything is pointing towards a Marg win from my point of view

Cotto cannot stand and trade with Margarito IMO, because allthough he has a greater variety of combos and and he has an edge in hand speed he will get hit if he stands infront of Margarito and as much as like Cotto i dont think he is as tough as Antonio Margarito ,Cotto can dish it out but if he stands infront of Marg he will have to absorb more punishment than he has been asked to do before in any of his fights ,he did stand with Shane Mosley for quite a few rounds but Mosley is an old fighter with shot reflexes that meant Cotto was able to land flush ,also Mosley boxed him from the centre of the ring Marg aint gonna do that

Cotto likes to put rounds in the bank and get on his bike and why people think he is effective doing this im not sure he is as effective doing that i mean that was when Shane started to win rounds when Cotto started backing ,up i also think Mosley may have slightly hurt him on the ropes towards the end aswell when he was backing up, i thought N'dou caught him a couple of times towards the end of thier fight when he was backing up and lets not forget while Cotto has not been hurt recently he can be hurt as we all know ,he looked ready to go against Corley he was tottering up and down when Corley hit him he was on the deck how many times against Torres , a few people think Judah buckled his legs for a split second but i dont think he was badly hurt there but u get the picture

he is gonna have to Box smart fight to get by Marg but sooner or later he is gonna get tired if he decides to Box and he will eventually become a more stationary target ,wether he wins enough early rounds with Marg coming on late in the fight and sqeeks a decison is a good possibility ,however i think Cotto's heart will be his undoing in this fight his macheezmo will take him where he dont wanna be IMO

i would love Cotto to win though cause he is my favourite fighter today among the new superstars

Karma. I'm with you on this. I'm a fan of Cotto too, but as you've stated already, Margaritos toughness is going to be the difference. It kind of sucks too, because it gives a certain fighter a built in excuse to duck for cover.

Interesting points but I think Cotto is a smart enough fighter to not brawl excessively with Margarito and I think he will be able to stick to his gameplan.

All these questions will be answered when they step in the ring.

Anyways there's no denying that Tony will throw 1000 plus shots and Cotto's shots won't affect him. Why? Because he's not a boy anymore.

The only times he's been dropped were from body shots..........and that was when he was fighting at lightweight, lol.

Thats an exactly accurate assessment of the way that Margarito would win, if he wins. Like many, I can't pick this fight, and I actually want Margarito to win, but for the sake of argument I would suggest that there is no way Margarito is going to have it all his own way. Cotto, when he wants to be, is an extremely accurate, powerful and fast straight puncher and Margarito has throughout his career been very vulnerable to straight punches through the centre, often taking them flush in the face before he even notices they have been thrown. This was exactly how Santos was beating him before the stoppage. If Margarito is being hit regularly then he can't execute his plan, and how well Cotto exploits this, and how well Margarito avoids exposing himself will be key to this fight, I think.

The bottom line for me is that it is going to come down to which of these two is the physically stronger man on the night, with the victor in that particular battle also winning the battle of who will be able to impose himself on his opponent most effectively. It will be a physical fight, fought at close range for the most part, because Cotto won't be able to keep his new 'boxing' tactics going down the stretch. It is going to be fascinating to see how it plays out.
