Why is Pavlik so good?

I love the guy, but I have no idea how he is champ. Maybe that is why I like the guy so much. I mean what is all that special about two jabs and a right? I admit that I've only seen his last 4 fights so maybe I am missing something, but I doubt it. Enlighten me.

nothing special about him. i doubt he'll hold the belt long but i guarantee he won't lose it easily.

he's tough and he fights. what's not to like?

hop and jermain might have been more talented but kelly showed them how a middleweight champ is suppose to fight.

jermain is likeable but he just seemed off whenever he fought. kelly bought the best out of him. maybe losing the 0 will be good for jermain.

the middleweight division needed a "fighter". hopkins dominant but boring reign almost completely killed 160 for me. explain to me how guys who fight at 122 are willing to go toe to toe but guys who walk around at 180 fight like getting hit with a punch is the end of the world? thank god hopkins is fighting tarver and calzaghe now...... makes it so much easier to miss his fights. :-)

From what I'm reading, you are saying that Edison Miranda is overrated because of his big mouth which is why Pavlik shouldn't get much credit for the victory and then turn around and say AA is a better challenge because he is a much better fighter than Miranda, but Miranda broke Abraham's jaw and many believe he beat Abraham. If you were to make a poll, i can guarantee a poll showing a very close split either way.

CONSISTANCY.. He is very consistant.. He trains hard, and is basic. But the basic style works..

I love his style, its hard not to.. But I don't see his career last too long..
Lets enjoy it while it lasts.. I hope that Calzaghe fights Jones, because I see Pavlik being dismantled..

you can call me out anytime..............first off, i said "probably" because of his big mouth.......miranda is overrated imo.........he can't box a lick.....not a lick..........and i said beating miranda and taylor were good wins............i said i need more from pav.......go back and read my post................... you guys need to read a bit more closely......................as far as AA-miranda...........if i were to ask any of you guys if you saw all 12 rounds of this fight, you all probably would say i only saw what was on youtube..........miranda could not hit abraham........other than the punch that broke his jaw........he never beat AA up.....didn't come close........AA made him miss.......he had to or he would've been beaten up badly............AA boxed and moved and miranda could not hit AA which is why he fouled AA multiple times..................some of you guys think that if miranda broke AA's jaw, what do you think pav will do since pav beat miranda..........that math never adds up in boxing...........AA was in total control of the miranda fight.........

not many people gave him a chance against miranda???????.........who is miranda?????????........if there was any boxer who didn't want to face him, the reason was probably because of his big mouth..........miranda is overrated........and while taylor fought pav well, and vice versa, taylor had no technique.....and taylor exposed a few flaws pav has............i want to see pav beat an all around fighter.........someone who could fight inside and out.....AA can do that...............i'm basically i need more from pav.......that can be said about any new champion..................pav showed he might be the goods............beating A. Abraham in my mind would convince me that pav can truly fight............

I remember the Miranda/Pavlik fight very well. 95% of the commentary during and before the fight was geared towards Miranda. Whether it was his story of growing up on the streets or how he had called out Taylor. There was barely a mention of Pavlik until he started to take over the fight. Miranda was definitely the huge favorite.

I've seen the entire fight and I scored it for Miranda. Regardless of who actually won by no means was either man in "total control" of the fight.

No, not many people gave him a shot at beating Miranda at the time and he was avoided because of his power and chin, although I agree that he is a little overrated by some people.

Saying Taylor has no technique is wrong, he wouldn't have beaten Hopkins twice and fought to a draw with Winky if he didn't have any technique.

taylor was lucky to get the 2 wins and the draw over hop and wink...............many people think he lost all 3.............this is to the others who say that some believe AA lost to miranda..............those fans did not see the AA-miranda fight..........if they did, then they would know that miranda clearly lost..........i don't say that because i'm a AA fan..........i can't come here and lie to you guys..........i say it because boxing is about hit, and not get hit..........miranda never wobbled AA.........even with the broken jaw........AA wobbled miranda a couple of times............you can see AA could land anytime he wanted.......but he had to be more defensive because of the jaw........miranda couldn't land clean the whole fight, and the times he did land clean, the hard shots missed, and the punk punches landed........miranda even butted AA in the mouth too........miranda fought dirty.....................it was the boxer versus the puncher in that fight, and the boxer clearly won........clearly.........
