MMA promotes to americans, Boxing promotes nationality/race

You're right but the appeal is there. Boxing just simply isnt working with the same tools as mma. MMA mimics real street combat situations and there's enough variables in a real brawl that you can pull a random tough guy off the streets that just loves to fight like kimbo and become an instant badass in the cage. Cant do that with boxing. Fighters have to be educated and developed. The US digs MMA and kimbo because the US is all about instant gratification. That's why every frat boy with half a brain and thinks he's tough thinks he can step in a cage and be an immediate contender.I dont think pavlik is a white hope, hes legit, he doesnt need to be a "hope" because hes basically already there. One thing i will say is that pavlik gets pretty good mainstream attention certainly.
You are right about the heavyweight champion thing, however, i dont even see a real undisputed heavyweight king right now let alone an american one.Comment

Im well aware of what Pavlik is. The point was that the average american does not know. And they will continue not knowing until he pulls a win out of his ass from adversity against an international superstar like a hatton or calzagheComment

Izzy Vazquez fights out of L.A., would you not count him???Cung Le fights out of san jose, you cant count him.
I think you are missing my point, crossover appeal happens in MMA with ethnic stars because they dont promote them exclusibvely to their cultural fanbase in america, they cross promote them as faces of the sport, as opposed to faces of their country first.
In all honesty I think the conclusions you have drawn are completely inaccurate.Comment

well most good americans boxers are black
but if u put ppvs like "black fury" or "african glory" u will sound racist, so there goes the idea of appealing to americans
ur wrong dude mma is not succesful because it promotes to americans its succesful because its a more brutal and entertaining sport, imo if every boxing match ended in a knockout it would be much more succesful than mmaComment
