I have no problem with them being new fans to the sport.

I have a problem with them talking like they've followed boxing for years. These guys are saying **** like Calzaghe could beat a prime Roy or Toney or Hopkins from 160-168 and getting away with it. That I have a problem with.

New fans are great and I welcome them.

But I refuse to treat them like they know anything about the sport with only 6 months under their belt.

Mostly correct. Only difficuilty I have is with the assumption that saying Calzaghe could have beaten Jones or Toney is impossible. All three of those guys are top SMWs, and each of them has something they do better than all the others. I think Calzaghe could have beaten both, Diego thinks Jones beats Calzaghe (he did beat Toney as you know). Neither opinion is wrong and we shouldn't have 'problems' with each other, as fellow boxing fans, for having different opinions.

I think this theory is bollocks if anything the exodus would have arrived around the lacy fight; it was on itv thus a large audience and on at prime time ( I think ) unlike the Kessler fight which was silly O'clock on Setanta (Granted the beeb showed it next week) but I still think what Diego saying is a load of bollocks.

Boxing fans knew about Calzaghe before his big fights wit Lacy and Kessler, they just didn't care about him yet. Since those fights, his fans and haters alike have gotten loud voicing their opinions on him. It's what happens when a guy is in the spotlight; for better or worse people start talkin about him.
