why the fight is all the way in october is beyond me, why not atleast at the end of August or early September, the mayor race is over so what the hold up, the longer he prepares the faster he will get hurt againComment
-
as far as i know, there is no fight scheduled for october. the fight has to take place before october 11th. and boxrec would have it up if there was a scheduled date anyways.
Okay, now listen closely. vitali is not going to mess up any unification plans. wladimir has to take care of a mandatory or two first. second, vitali doesn't plan on staying in boxing for 5, or even 2 or 3 years. he just wants his damn title back so they both become champs at the same time. so no more **** about him holding up the division. how many times does this have to be said?Comment

Pro - we get a good, exciting brawl
Con - if Vitali wins, we'll be even farther from getting the 1st heavyweight champ since Lennox Lewis
That's basically it.Comment

Vitali and Wlad are selfish *******s. They are to blame why heavyweight division suck.
They are not concern about the heavyweight mediocore status, all they want are their ABC titles.
When Wlad fought Ibragimov, he did a very safe fight just to get that "W", when he could have tore the head of his opponent with successive assaults using his obvious reach and height advantage. But what Wlad did was to jab his way to the title. Hence, Wlad doesnt care if he fought a boring fight or what the mainstream fans want just to revive their dying dividision.
Just like his brother, vitali doesnt care what would be the effect of winning the title and its consequences to the heavyweight division. All they want is to have their title at the same time which nobody cares really.
Their weak chins will not make them a recognize undisputed champion. I hope Haye would kick their ass both and save the division and boxing in general.Comment

....Very nice post. True it will be a long long layoff for big Vit but his style is all wrong for Peter. I see Vitali dropping him and kocking him out for the first time in his career. The goal of the Klitschkos has always been to hold two titles together at the same time - they have never hidden that fact. They both want to hold titles at the same time. I would not be surprised if it was a one or two and done deal for Vitali.
The issue with a Wlad-Peter rematch, is that so far Peter has shown nothing that would make anyone think a rematch would go any different than the first fight. Unless Peter is going to charge Wlad at the opening bell and swing for the fences, Wlad will just outbox Peter the same way he did the first time. Sam Peter will always be vulnerable to being outboxed, as James Toney proved in their first fight and Wlad did as well, and Wlad is just a bad style matchup. The only excitement that rematch brings is if Peter lands a wild punch that KO's Wlad. The problem with that is Sam Peter's alleged "amazing punching power" has completely vanished against Top 10 competition. It took all Peter's power just to stagger James Toney. Even Wlad's chin held up to Peter's power (and against Peter's best punch, a blow to the back of the head).
Unless Sam Peter figures out a way to get inside a long lengthy jab, he will suffer against either Klitchsko brother. I can see Vitali more or less boxing his way to a UD against Peter by keeping his distance. "Ring rust" might play a part but Vitali has a very solid chin and vast experience, and unless Vitali grows old overnight, I just don't see Peter winning unless he can stop Vitali with a KO by getting inside a taller lengthy opponent. And I'll believe that when I see it. I still think Peter is the kind of power boxer who will always be vulnerable to being outboxed.Comment

Umm...
In the remote chance that Wlad loses to Povetkin, what if we get a 3-belt unification between Vitali and Tony Thompson?Comment

Lewis was regarded by the experts as the best of the Champions, but he didn't fight most of them when they were Champions. The only one he unified with was Holyfield, from who he got the IBF/WBA, but soon after was stripped by the WBA for not fighting Ruiz. So he didn't fight Byrd, Ruiz, or either of the Klitschko brothers when they were concurrent champions.Comment

Explain to me how Vitali has a weak chin again? This ought to be good.Vitali and Wlad are selfish *******s. They are to blame why heavyweight division suck.

he didn't need to fight the others. do you not understand that? Lewis was the linear champion. the last one we've had. ****, it might be 10 years before we get a guy to unify the belts and restart the lineage.Lewis was regarded by the experts as the best of the Champions, but he didn't fight most of them when they were Champions.
