Mayweather had an open schedule in 2006. Margarito, sometime in the summer of 2006 called Mayweather out to his face. And what did that get him? Nothing more than a "Sm..sm..smart business decisions" reply from Floyd and a banishment from Mayweather's following press conferences. Mayweather tried to make a fight with Carlos Baldomir, but Baldomir asked for too much money initially. Mind you, Bob Arum's 8 million dollar, career payday, still was on the table. But was that an option for Floyd? No. His next plan was to move 154 to fight Cory Spinks. Kevin Cunningham even said it was virtually a done deal, and Tommy Gallagher ****ted all over the fight on FNF. Soon after, Baldomir came to his senses and agreed to terms. Mayweather made 8 million + 1 dollar to fight Baldo. If that's not taking the past of least resistance I don't know what is.

And you're telling me that's the same as a fighter moving up in weight due to struggles at the scale? Spare me.
No one gave a **** about Margs then , and then he lost to P Will and no one really gave ****. Then he beats Cintron and he's a world beater? I like Margs alot, but come on dude. It's the same thing, no one gives a **** about Torres, so who cares about the fight. And no one cared for Margs at the time, so he deserved a ****. But Torres doesnt? I see H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-S-Y spelled all over that one.

Where is Pinto now? Didn't Steward say Pinto could have been better then Cotto if Pinto was guided like Cotto was? I remember Stewards said this.

And why is Pinto so highly regarded as a Cotto opponet, just because he hurt Cotto?

Margarito is three times stronger the Pinto and Pintos punchs are not like Margaritos.
He was never hurt against Pinto.

i know that he will get in the HOF because boxing lets anyone in. But what has he done to merit a HOF induction?
ok my last post to you....

Mosley dominated and pretty much KOd everyone in his path until his first title shot at 135. He defeated the 31-0 Holiday. Defended the title 8 times, won all them by KO. Amongst those wins he beat a primeJesse James Leija, and a prime John John Molina. Oh yea and a PRIME LIGHTWEIGHT Golden Johnson, not the washed up welterweight Margarito fought. He then jumped up all they way to 147 and knocked out a very solid fighter in Wilfredo Rivera. Got a fight with a prime Oscar De La Hoya and beat him for the world title. Defended the title 3 times and won all by KO. He then ran into his arch nemesis Forrest who beat him twice. His first two losses, he went 38-0 which is very impressive. He then moved up to 154 and defeated De La Hoya again and won another title. He challenegd Winky Wright twice and came up short both times. Second fight was close, Winky was too big for him. Then went on to KO a faded Fernando Vargas twice, confident builders. And easily beat a very solid fighter in Luis Collazo. Then lost to Miguel Cotto.

very solid career and worthy of the Hall of Fame in my opinion.

          Phillip holiday? Are you serious?
Prime JJL? Naw that ws against Azumah Nelson.
John John Molina, the same guy who lost to a guy my dad trained with limited skills in Lupe Suarez? And thats because Suarez wasnt even that good. Molina want in his prime.
Rivera? come on homie, you even know thats a stretch
Yeah faded as in old washed up fighter that lost to DLH and Tito with a suspect chin.
The same Collazo that lost to a 140 lb'er in Hatton?

Cotto will land quicker and shorter left hooks inside of Margarito's like he did Pinto. Pinto had a high workrate.

Those are the only comparisons you can make. Pinto was awkward, and he couldnt take a punch.

Yeah, it's all relative because Torres challenged Cotto face to face for a rematch, and had Cotto flustered, stuttering his words, saying **** like "It's not about proving to the fans who the best is" and "I'm looking to make smart business decisions," then looking over his shoulder like he's about to be assassinated, making sure Torres isn't in the room.

You're lying to yourself if you honestly believe no one gave a **** about a Mayweather-Margarito fight. Casual fans, probably..but die hard fans wanted to see it. That was the best fight to be made at the time at welterweight, and you know it. But I guess Mayweather fans feel it wouldn't have been in his best interest, huh?
