Exactly. That's where my vote would go.

He was hurt to the point where Lazcano could have done a substantial amount of damage with a few more punches in succession. Ricky was having trouble defending himself against punches in that period where Lazcano landed the good left hooks. A few more punches could have had him in even worse shape.

No one with a modicum of sense would say that Hatton/Lazcano even vaguely resembled Cotto/Gomez.

If Lazcano had been allowed to fight, he would have knocked Hatton down, which would have increased his chances of stopping him.

The only time I've seen Hatton more hurt were in welterweight fights.

To clarify, as some people are dumb:

Was he hurt and ready to be knocked down (not necessarily out) soon?
clearly he was and he even admitted it.......

imagine if lazcano was as hurt as hatton and his shoes were untied. he would be lying on the canvas knocked out cold with his shoestrings still dangling.

                i agree.

he was definately hurt twice for sure...

you can tell he was...he wobbled and looked dazed.

in the shoe incident he could have very well gotten knocked down had the ref not stopped it for a good minute to tie the shoe (i think his corner took a little extra time on purpose).

                so yeah.

                  Small doubt about that.

Allowed to fight how? The only person stopping him from fighting was Ricky Hatton.
